Recalculating for 2021?

Don’t you love it? You miss a turn using your GPS maps program, and it’ll give you grace for a little bit. But pretty soon, you’ll hear that word: “Recalculating…” And if you don’t follow instructions soon enough, you’ll hear the words repeat again and again: “Recalculating…recalculating…”

There’s little doubt that 2020 feels a little like we missed a turn. Things seemed to be going along fine—the economy, the markets, a spirit of prosperity. And then a seeming series of wrong turns occurred. COVID-19. A global pandemic declared. Lockdowns, shelter-in-place, economic and market freefall.

Moses and Israelites "Recalculating" memeBut I wonder if in all those wrong turns you heard God say, “Recalculating?” Or perhaps more rightly, the encouragement should be for us to recalculate—to consider what lessons we might draw from these events, and accordingly ask for direction for the future.

Recently, I listened to a message from Michael Jr. where he offered some helpful questions as we contemplate 2020 and look forward to 2021:

  1. What problem am I trying to solve? What are the needs and hurts that I see around me? What are the problems in my path? Place less emphasis on “my calling” and more on the problems around me.
  2. Who are the people [I’ve been given]? Look around—see the people in your life—family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, people along your path.
  3. What can I give? What can I do about the problems in front of me with the people that are in my path? Perhaps it’s finances. Perhaps it is a talent I can employ? Perhaps it is my presence—being a listening ear? Or perhaps it is just an encouraging word?

As we close out 2020, here’s a great reflective quote from John Piper from his book Don’t Waste Your Life:

The really wonderful moments of joy in this world are not the moments of self-satisfaction, but self-forgetfulness. Standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon and contemplating your own greatness is pathological. At such moments we are made for a magnificent joy that comes from outside ourselves

Praise & Prayer

Thanking the Lord for good health.  Ken and I have both stayed healthy this year for which I am thankful.  I pray you all have been too!!  And if not, please let me know so I can be praying for you.

Thanking the Lord for sustaining us financially.  Ken's work hours are not consistent with winter fast approaching here.  I have been able to pick up a few additional work hours and am thankful for the job and my boss.  He is probably the best employer I've ever worked for.   I am also trying to pick up some additional Facebook Marketing...so if you know of anyone.  Or I will get paid if you buy artwork from www.stevewilsonart.com and mention my name... that you saw his stuff on Facebook Steve Wilson Art.  Him and his wife Cathy are great friends here in the Valley....and he is quite talented! Pretty well known in these parts!   He does commissions and can do just about anything!!    Check him out!

Thanking God that we are days closer to stepping into the vision He has for us. Though we are not seeing it manifested in the natural, we know that He is at work behind the scenes.  There are many great connections we are making!

Thanking God for our move to Montana.  We are so thankful to be living in such a beautiful state.  I don't think I will ever get tired of looking at the mountains.  And now with snow caps, they are even more stunning.  Fortunately, we have no snow on the ground.  When it does snow it's a quick melt due to higher elevation and when the sun is out, it evaporates!  (Ask me again in Jan-March) when snow falls should be higher.  It's been a mild winter so far... comparable to KC.

My sister Jackie is here visiting - she made an impromptu trip - her son was passing through here and so she came to see him briefly and then is staying with us for the next 10 days.  She even brought me some KC treats! Yea!

What are you thankful for this year?

If we can pray for you please feel free to reach out.  We are so thankful for those that continue to pray for us.   You have no idea how much that touches my heart and demonstrates God's love!  Thank YOU!

Vision
God has given us a vision to build a retreat property along with ministry equipping center.
The retreat portion of our ministry is to provide a safe place for pastors, lay leaders & other ministry folks to come and be refreshed & encouraged through prophetic ministry (if wanted).  We will offer private cabins with kitchens & full bathrooms, and plenty of places to roam on the property to get quiet with the Lord.
We will offer other specialty retreats - marriage, healing, prophetic teaching & activating people into the world & health and wellness retreats and more.

The Lord has graced us with the desire to come alongside the Church - to bring healing, deliverance & freedom to new/newer believers.  We are not wanting to replace their church, but better help them be ready to serve in their church.
In our community building - we will eventually have a 24/7 prayer room, healing & prophetic rooms and a place for community worship services for those on the property.

Our passion is to minister to a lost & hurting world.   To equip the saints to do the same and to be a blessing to our community and surrounding areas.  Our hopes are that we can pour out God's love in a mighty way to bring more and more souls into the Kingdom, get them discipled, called into their purpose & destiny and released to do God's business!!!!  We also have a passion to give generously to help those in need and to help others launch into their God given destinies.
