Are you ready? Do you know? What if? In these times, God is speaking and we need to hear him!

A message of insight and hope....

If the US economy collapses or disaster strikes today, would you be ready? Have you prepared? Do you know how to prepare? The Lord has been speaking to us and to many others for several years about what possibly could happen in and to our country. The Lord has given us many signs and warnings plus ample time to get ready. What does prepare mean to you? For some it means storing up food and water, learning to garden, getting a generator, buying guns and ammunition. For others, God is moving families closer together geographically. Ask the Lord what part you play and what if anything He wants you to do to prepare. Last year 2011, was a year of transition for many. This year is a year of God's divine order. He is strategically and divinely shifting and moving people to carry out His will and purposes as we experience even greater difficult times in the months and years ahead.

(At the bottom of this post is information on how to prepare physically, copied and pasted from a friend of mines newsletter)

In my opinion, however, the most important way to prepare is about knowing where you are spiritually? Do you spend time in God's Word reading and then able to listen to what He has to say? Are you able to hear God's voice? Do you know how to discern His will? Would you have the faith or trust to do whatever it is He asked of you, no matter what? Are you able to obey Him immediately?

We are in a critical season in the history of the United States. What this country's beliefs and values were founded on, is being stripped away. Our freedoms are being taken away one by one. Casting Crowns has a song that says it very well: "It's a slow fade when you give yourself away. It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray. Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid. When you give yourself away. People never crumble in a day. It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade". Our country's welfare has been slipping away for years - one poor choice after another. But God is bigger than all of this and we can overcome! As believers, we are more than conquerors! We can't expect our government to turn things around. We the Church (all believers) need to rise up and shine our lights to this broken world.

The Lord recently gave me a vision and without going into details, there is an urgency that all believers must know how to hear God's voice and to be obedient without hesitation. I also sensed that those haven't received Jesus in their heart would need to make the choice to come to the Lord. Time is short and in His mercy, none shall perish.

The Lord showed me a passage out of Deuteronomy 31:11-20 that I believe interprets the vision quite well.
The Offer of Life or Death

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Most Americans believe they are Christians. They feel that going to church on Sunday (or even on occasion) fulfills their spiritual duty and that's all that is required of them. George Barna reports “Americans are increasingly comfortable picking and choosing what they deem to be helpful and accurate theological views and have become comfortable discarding the rest of the teachings in the Bible,” he said.

Gods word tells us much differently. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (josh 1:7-8)

Barna goes on to say that faith is more individualized and customized today. Christianity or faith wasn’t meant to be a buffet, where you can pick and choose what works for you. Christianity and faith is black and white. It's faith, trust and ACTION in the Word of God. The Psalmist writes, For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. What God tells us is black and white. We must be be doers of the Word.

The United States is facing consequences for choices we all have made over the past 40+ years. Our morals and values have decayed beyond recognition.

Here are a few statistics to show you America’s crisis. They come from the economic collapse blog.
- over 6 million Americans are behind in their mortgage payment.
- If Bill Gates gave every single penny of his fortune to the U.S. government, it would only cover the U.S. budget deficit for about 15 days.
- In the past 4 years, the number of Americans on food stamps has increased from 32 million to 46 million.

The solution is in God's Word - if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. If each one of us chooses daily and purpose in our hearts to walk with the Lord, to follow His ways, we can turn this country around.

Jackie Robinson, was the first colored person to play baseball in America. He says this: "Democracy works for those who are willing to fight for it and I'm sure the USA is worth defending! We have too much invested in our country's welfare to throw it away or to let it be taken from us".

This year it is imperative that we get connected or stay connected to a body of believers who follow the Lord wholeheartedly, study the Bible personally and hear God's voice! If you are not connected, there are many churches and other services that are good. You can email me and I will provide some places I recommend.

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’

God Bless YOU -

Emergency Preparedness Info: by Joni Ames

Dear Friends,

With all that is going on and has been prophesied, I've tried to send info out from time to time on how to be prepared. I've decided to again do this since there are many new members to my mailing list in this season. In addition, I will try to maintain info on a sidebar in my newsletter, as well as place this on my website.

Much of the following information was forwarded to me by others. It is not my original info. But it said to feel free to forward it, so that's what I'm doing! :-D

It is a good idea to have an Emergency Preparedness plan in place for you and your family that is tailored to your own individual likes and needs. The items on this list are simply suggestions.

You can begin to prepare by going to Dollar General or Sam's Club or Costco and buying food in bulk. However, the average items do not have a long shelf life. So if you want to be prepared long term, buy items that have 20 year shelf life, such as the items from www.shelfreliance.com - In fact, you can even purchase those items at Costco.

It is smart to be prepared. The Bible says even the ants prepare! Even for bad weather scenarios such as tornados or hurricanes. Additionally, for earthquakes, terrorist attacks, flooding, power outages or pandemics.
Each family's need will vary, according to their own special likes, dislikes, and/or health concerns or special needs. Therefore, feel free to alter the lists below accordingly.

WATER

Other than air, water is the most important substance that your body requires for survival. The average person can only live 3 days without drinking water. If your power is taken off line, or the municipal water source is contaminated, you will not be able to turn on your faucet and use clean water. There may not be any water at all.

Here are six different suggestions to help prepare for this:

1) Using the rule of thumb of 1 gallon of water per person per day (for drinking, washing, cooking), store enough bottled water for three weeks. Keep in mind that you may need more in the middle of summer and if air conditioners are inoperable.

2) If you have enough forewarning about an emergency, clean out your bathtub with Clorox, make sure the stopper doesn’t leak and fill your tub with water. This water can be used for cooking, flushing toilets, bathing, or drinking water for your pets.

3) Purchase new 30 or 55 gallon “food grade” plastic barrels and fill them with tap water and a “water preserver” that will keep water fresh for 5 years (can find on-line at several places). Remember to purchase a hand pump to pump water out into smaller containers. (You can buy new barrels for around $30 and hand pumps on-line for about $15).

4) Buy a pump filter. There are several great types that hikers use that allow you to filter some nasty germs and make the water pure. Check your local outdoors shops or on-line camping sites (e.g., “REI.com,” “Campmor.com,” etc.) There is one good one called “MSR MIOX.” This is a very small (pen size) unit that requires a small cap full of water with a pinch of salt and then you push the button and it sends an electric charge through the mixture causing it to kill all of the bad germs in unclean water. The cost of this is around $95 and can be found at most outdoor shops or on-line.

5) You can boil water. This is ok for washing or food preparation, but it may not help the taste of the water. It is time consuming and requires a lot of energy which may not be available.

6) Chlorine Bleach. Adding 16 drops (1/8 of a teaspoon) of unscented, color safe bleach per gallon of water can disinfect water, but may not kill all germs and bacteria like the MIOX does.

Suggestion: use a variety of the above ideas to be ready for your family.

POWER and HEAT

If your power is taken off line, you may need to have a backup plan in order to cope with no lights at night, and with no power to cook with or store refrigerated food. Having no power means no hot water, no cooking (unless you have a gas cook top), no tv, washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, etc.

People tend to panic fairly quickly when there is no power, which is one thing we are trying to avoid.

Here are some suggestions to help with power and heat:

1) You may want to consider purchasing a generator, although this can be expensive. You can purchase a smaller generator to operate your refrigerator, stove and some lights for around $500. Or, you could purchase a generator that runs your entire home automatically in the event of loss of power. These larger generators may cost up to $6,000 to have installed (depending on the size of your home). If you have a generator, be sure to keep the exhaust from entering your home. Generators must be placed OUTSIDE with good ventilation. Also keep in mind that natural gas availability could be disrupted, so you may want to consider getting a generator that operates on propane and purchase/rent a large propane tank outside of your home.

2) If you do not purchase a generator, you may want to consider buying a propane camping stove for cooking and warming water. This is not expensive, but you will need to have several canisters of propane on hand (most of these stoves have to be used OUTSIDE, but some can be used indoors as well – do not use indoors, unless product specifically says you can).

3) You may also want to consider cooking with a Dutch oven and charcoal. There are several books on recipes using this oven.

4) If you have an outdoor grill, you can cook using this, although keep in mind you have to be OUTSIDE to use this.

5) You may want to consider having a wood burning stove or fireplace insert installed in your home. This can provide an alternate source of heat if power is out and also a cooking surface for your home. Keep in mind to have a lot of wood available.

LIGHT

If your power is taken off line, you may need to have a backup plan in order to cope with no lights at night.

1) A generator would provide you with lights.

2) Have enough flashlights for your family. One per person is suggested. Also have back up batteries. Make sure you get good heavy-duty quality lights.
a. You may want a battery operated spot-light also.
b. For under $20 you can purchase “wind-up” flashlights that do not require batteries or flashlights that recharge by shaking or winding.
c. L.E.D. flashlights are good options as their bulbs last a long time.Note: Do not buy cheap rechargeable flashlights from dollar stores.
3) Candles.
4) Kerosene, oil, or propane lamps.

SANITATION
This is one area that a lot of people tend to forget. If you have no electric power, your bathrooms will probably not work for long, particularly if coupled with loss of clean water.

If you don’t want to be forced outside with a shovel, you may want to consider purchasing a portable commode. Walmart or Sears carries these and they work well. It has a double tank – one for clean water to flush and another for the waste. You can use chemicals to help with odor. You will also need to have some special, inexpensive toilet paper that dissolves. The top of the line commodes are about $99 and can be found for much less.

COMMUNICATION

During many types of emergencies, internet, home and cell phones may not be operational. We are working on a communication plan for our fellowship where we can communicate with one another during these type of emergencies. However, you may want to consider these as well:

1) Purchasing walkie-talkies that you can buy from many different places. Some require FCC licenses, while others do not. I would try to find the kind that has the longest range without purchasing a license.

2) CB Radios, Trunk Radios or Short Wave radios are also a good option for two-way communication.

3) Emergency Radio: Along with having two-way communication, it will probably be vital to be able to stay informed with current weather, safety concerns or government warnings through the local authorities. Purchasing a radio is a good idea. You can purchase a good “wind-up” or “solar” powered radio that carries a variety of NOAA, FM and AM stations for around $50. Some models even have a cigarette adapter that will run other electronic equipment.

4) Family Emergency Plan: From “Ready.gov.”

FOOD SUPPLIES

To plan for 6 to 8 weeks of food for your family (plus two others), you will want to purchase food that does not require refrigeration and must be storable for the longest time possible.

There are numerous ways in which you can plan for food storage, to include MRE’s (Military rations which are very good and don’t require water), dry-food (that requires water or oil, or both) and canned food (which may not have as long of a shelf life). There are many on-line sites that sell dried food and packages for families that are very cost effective. “Mountain House” is a good brand of dried-food and there are many others such as “Pleasant Hill Grain” which ship in bulk (even up to a 1 year supply).

Here are some examples of the type of food you may want to have stored:
Powdered milk Dried Fruit
Potatoes Dry Crackers
Peanut Butter Soups
Jelly Vitamins
Salt & Pepper (spices) Instant Coffee and Tea
White Rice Bouillon cubes
Bottled drinks Caned hams (no refrigeration)
Spam (helped get our forefathers through the depression and WWII)

FIRST AID KIT

Home First Aid Kits are fairly simple, however, you will need to customize them to your families needs. Keep in mind that you may have special medicine that is required (e.g., if allergic to aspirin, etc.).

Suggestions for First Aid Kit:
First Aid Book (a good book that give a lot of information)
Assorted Band Aids with different sizes
Triple Antibiotics ointment
Alcohol (for cleaning, sterilizing)
Cotton balls or Q-tips
Hydrogen Peroxide
Gauge Pads – assorted sizes
Medical tape
Bactine – will not burn
Merthiolate, iodine, etc.
Tums or Rolaids
Personal Doctors prescriptions
Eye Drops
Benadryl
Cough medicine
Soap
Latex gloves
Option: Dental first aid kit
Scissors
Extra Blankets or Emergency blankets
Hand sanitizer
Tweezers
Thermometer
Magnifying glass
Hand Cream (lotion)
Aspirin or Tylenol or Ibuprofen

GAMES

If you are home without power, the kids will get board quickly. If you go by the Boy or Girl Scouts, they have some great books that are free with great ideas. These books include games that you can make with house-hold items.

Another way to help the time pass is with some cards, battery operated radios and televisions, and cd players with stories for children. Magazines are also great to cut up with scissors, or you can make puppets, have a puppet show, etc.

MISC

Depending on the emergency, I would also suggest the following items be included in your emergency kit:

Water proof matches or lighter
N-95 rated respirators (adult and child sizes in case of bird flu)
Tent and sleeping bags (if flooded out or have to leave home)
Emergency kits for each of your automobiles with basic necessities
Extra batteries in various sizes
Pens, pencil and paper
Hygiene items for men and women
Toilet paper (several rolls)
Dish soap & dish towels
Basic tools, knife
Cash (Just in case ATM’s or Banks are unavailable)
Moist towelettes
Local Map
Can opener
Garbage bags

SITES & Resources

Some of the resources that I have personally used to purchase water filters, respirators, food, water pumps, etc., and have had good success, are:

Nitro-pak.com
REI.com
Campmor.com
Pleasanthillgrain.com
Book: “The official urban and wilderness survival manual” by Robert Pelton

LINKS to Emergency Preparedness Information

As you prepare your home emergency kit, please look at the following sites. Some of these sites have step-by-step plans and information that you can add to what we have provided above:

READY.gov (Very helpful site from Dept. of Homeland Security. Click on “Ready America,” to view various information on making a plan, preparing a kit, etc.)

FEMA.gov (Click on “Plan Ahead” button, then scroll down to information under “protect your family”)

AvianFlu.gov (Gives all kinds of information regarding bird flu)

SECURITY

Keep in mind that during disasters or pandemics, things are not normal and good people do not react normally. The bad people get even worse and the Law Enforcement people are either not available or very thin on coverage (as we saw with Katrina). Normally these emergency personnel are dealing with the same problems that you are with their families. It may be up to you (and the Lord) for your security either for a short or a long period of time. There are answers and ways that you can help protect your family.

First, it does help to have an alarm system in your home. A monitored system will bring help in most cases. If there is no power, the alarm system has battery backup, and if there is no phone service, your system may be equipped with a cell connection. If no cell connection, at least the Siren will alert others.

You can control your doors where no one can obtain entry. Don will share this information with our fellowship in the coming months. Keep in mind that 85% of burglaries are through the doors. You can also pin your windows open and still get air but the crook will have more difficulty gaining entry. There are also several inexpensive ways to alert you if someone tries to enter. If entry is gained there are several options other than deadly force.

A dark home has a way of inviting the wrong people. One way to keep them outside is to pin your windows. Using tomato sticks, not dowels, that are round but the square ones can help. Cut the stick approximately one eighth of an inch longer than the window top part and wedge it into the side. This is an inexpensive way to keep your windows from being forced open. There is also a door jam that you can buy from your hardware store for $20 and it prevents your door from being opened until you wish to exit.

Power comes from the Truth!

Are there things that you feel the Lord has promised you but you haven't seen them come to pass yet? Has the Lord spoken healing over your body but yet you still are living with pain or have some sickness or disease? Has the Lord given you a dream, a desire in your heart (Ps 37:4) but it seems like it will never happen? My answer is YES - to all of the above. I personally have been crying out for healing for years and there are many who have been faithful to pray for my healing as well. So why am I not seeing healing?

The Lord has given Ken and I a dream, several desires that He placed in our hearts but in the natural it seems as if that will never happen. I pray often and ask when?

Our words have power. Do you believe that? How many times have you said something good or bad that ended up happening to you? Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. I don't know about you but one day I have so much faith and confidence that God will bring things to pass and the next I can be waffling and wondering if God is even listening? One day my tongue is speaking faith-filled words - speaking the Word of God and believing for the promises God has for us and the next day, my tongue is spewing doubt and unbelief. Lord I believe, but help me with my unbelief, I pray. Based on this verse in Proverbs, one day I'm speaking life and the next death and the fruit well there is none and that's because I'm being doubleminded. (James 1:8) Ouch! We have a choice on what we speak. It all starts with our thoughts. If we are thinking negative thoughts, negative things will come out of our mouth. If we are thinking on good things Phil 4:8, then good will come to us.

This past couple weeks, the Lord has been speaking to us out of Rom 4:17 ASV (as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were.. The Lord gives us this promise - call those things that are not, as though they were? What does that mean? Well, what the Lord has been showing us is that we need to call things forth what He has spoken to us, call forth the dreams He's placed in our hearts, call forth the healing He's promised us and stand FIRM on His Word with unwavering faith. As we speak God's Word over our lives, it will happen because His Word will not return void!! Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. If the Lord has spoken to you and given you promises that you have not seen yet, then what do you have to lose by calling it forth and believing for it to happen. Speak the Word of God over your circumstances, your health, your finances, your job, your marriage or whatever else you need breakthrough in. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. God's will is for you to have an abundant life - peace, joy, provision, health. It may not happen overnight but as you continue to stand on the Word of God, your faith - your trust in God will increase.

For years I was told that this was "name it, claim it or word of faith theology? Whatever that means, I don't know. What I do know is that we need to get back to simply believing and trusting God's Word. God's Word is living and active!!! I don't see anywhere in God's Word that says we are not to claim the promises in there. I don't see where faith is a problem for God but just the opposite, that without faith, it's impossible to please God?? Hebrews 11:6 Hmmm??? This past weekend Jerry Baysinger of Life Healing Ministries was teaching and ministering at our home. It was awesome! He had just been given a Hebrew bible from someone that we are friends with and in that bible it said in place of the word "faith", it used the word "trust". Go through the book of Hebrews and substitute the word trust for faith. It is our trust in God's and His word that brings us the abundant life. I am copying the lyrics to a popular old hymn that says it all:

Trust & Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

and if you prefer to listen to it click this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q00TXBPl9i4

In a recent prayer and worship meeting, we went around the room and called forth those promises which God had promised to each one of us. Within the first 24 hours, there were three of us who already have a testimony of God's goodness. I just received an email this morning that another person received an unexpected gift. Things we spoke forth happened! Go God!

You don't have to believe me and that's ok but trust God and see what He will do for you.

For the Lord is good and His faithful love endures forever.

He loves the Lord, loves food (if you couldn't tell) and is going to medical school to become a doctor in Guatemala and medical missions. The other picture is of Sammy's dog who this story is about! (You can click on photos to enlarge)

Ok, so one afternoon Sammy, Ken and I were sitting in the lobby of our hotel waiting to be picked up. I noticed Sammy looked a little bummed out - which is sooooo not like him. I asked him what was wrong and he said that his mom and sister had to leave home (Guatemala) to go to Nicarauga for work and that meant Sammy's new little doggie he got for Christmas had nobody to watch him. In Central America, normally the family would just turn the dog out into the streets at this point and that really bothered Sammy because he loved this little doggie and would probably not see him again.

Sammy's mom and sister were leaving in just two hours and he really didn't have any way to reach them since they got off Skype earlier. Instantly I said, let's just pray and ask God for help in this. The three of us began to pray and then Ken sensed the Lord told him "cousin". We stopped praying and Ken asked Sammy if he had a cousin in Guatemala? Sammy said yes I have a cousin there but there's no way to reach her and my mom and sister wouldn't have time to get the dog there before they had to leave. I said get back on Skype and see if you can reach your mom again and so Sammy did. Sammy was shocked because his sister was online (that in itself was a miracle). He reached his sister and she told Sammy that they took the dog to a friends to watch but that friends dog and Sammy's dog didn't get along. But the God part is (drum roll please) Sammy's cousin just happened to be at this friends house visiting and so she offered up to watch his dog. That's why Sammy's sister was back online in hopes to reach Sammy to tell him. Now don't tell me God doesn't love dogs too! He cares about every detail of our lives and this is absolute proof! The three of us were so happy and rejoicing in God's goodness! Whoohooo!!!!

Matthew 10:29 For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father's consent. As for you even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!

Another hint from the Lord about Peru- I had a dream earlier this week that some friends of ours asked if they could use our home to host an event. I said sure. The night of the event, 100's of people came to our home and about halfway through the evening, our friends made a speech about us and that this was a surprise going away party for Ken and I as we were leaving for Peru soon.

I am getting lots of signs and confirmations about Peru but WE are still NOT hearing details, when, how long, etc? And yet, I have many questions - sell house/rent house or just have house/dog sitter? What will we do in Peru, where will we stay? Will we get paid? and so on. Ken hasn't heard anything about Peru! I was texting a friend today and told her this and she said I know when.... God's timing! Ha ha!

What we have sensed is that we are to take some serious spanish lessons. We felt led to check into a Spanish Institute in Puebla, Mexico - it's an immersion course which means we would live with a host home who only speaks Spanish. This is a 3-4 week course. Again - need God's provision in many ways if we are to do this. We continue to pray!

A local God story:
Today Ken and I went to one of our favorite mexican restaurants for lunch. On the way there, Ken noticed the gas price to be $3.33 per gallon. That number jumps out at him because it references his life verse Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. I said, well let's press in and see what the Lord might have for us. When we walked into the restaurant we noticed that there was a curtain blocking off the main dining area (in all our years of going there, we have never seen that). Our favorite little waitress was working (we led her to the Lord divinely a few months ago).

We noticed a man at the bar quite drunk. We began to pray for him asking God to protect him and to keep him from harm. We asked for God's divine intervention in his life and to heal whatever hurts causing him to drink so much in the middle of the day. Ken was looking out the window and saw a pole with a white bag stuck to it and felt the Lord was saying this guy at the bar was throwing in the towel, that he was surrendering because he couldn't fight anymore. That God wanted Ken to impart God's power into him to give him strength. When Ken told me that, my spirit lept and I knew that time was short, a real urgency. I knew Ken had to go pray for him. Ken went over and talked with him for a while. He was very open and receptive. Ken hugged him and returned to our table. I went over to the guy and talked to him a bit and gave him our contact information so we could help him find relationship with God. He took it and asked if we could drive him home. We did and Praise God for that. He shared some of his story and I have to tell you - there are so many people who may look good on the outside, or live in nice homes but they are hurting badly on the inside. They need Jesus! They need us to be Jesus to them. He said he would call us and we are praying that he will. If you feel led, please pray for him. You don't need to know his name because God already does! Thank YOU!

I end with a Scripture that spoke to me early on in my walk with the Lord. It's a good motivator to be a doer of the Word of God!

Matthew 25 NASB

35‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
41“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ 44“Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ 45“Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46“These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Taxi Driver - Divine Set Up - Jehovah Sneaky! Upcoming Events!

Have you ever been set up by the Lord? If you haven't, then you don't know what you're missing. A friend of mine, Joni Ames, says that God is Jehovah sneaky... and I've seen that quite a few times in my walk with Him. While we were in Peru, He set us up by having James go home only 2 days after we got there. He obviously knew we wouldn't have gone if we knew James would leave so suddenly. Sneaky?!@?

The picture above shows our taxi driver. He's the one in the orange tank top on the left in the back.

Well, also while we were there, God created a divine set up with one of our taxi drivers. We were in the taxi with Pastor Luis and our interpreter, Sammy. (remember everything had to be translated but here's the conversation). I heard the Lord say that we were on a treasure hunt right in the taxi. I said who's the "treasure" and the Lord said, our driver. I felt like the Lord told me to invite the driver to the church services but that he would say no. The reason he would say no is because he needed to work and earn fares. The Lord told me to ask what he would make and then offer him double fare. So, I tapped on the taxi driver's shoulder and said hey would you like to come to church service tonight, this is Pastor Luis sitting next to you and Ken and I will be teaching and ministering. I sense the Lord has something special for you tonight. The taxi driver immediately said no and that he couldn't afford to not work, that he had a lot of debt to pay and had to work. I said how much do you make in fares for an evening and he said 10 soles (that equates to about $3). I said what if I gave you 20 soles, would you come? He said, well I'm not in proper clothes (he was in a tank top and shorts). I said you know the Lord doesn't look at the outward appearance but He looks at the heart. We say come as you are, we accept you as you are, isn't that right Pastor Luis. Pastor Luis said yes, come. So he agreed.

As we approached the church, our taxi driver was getting cold feet, however, the Lord had a plan. The taxi driver's car suddenly quit/the engine died. The taxi driver repeatedly (about 20 times) tried to start the car but it wouldn't start. (hmmmm???) I said to him, the Lord wants you to come into the church services and when we come out later, your car will start right up. What choice did he have?? So he came in. Whoohoo!

As the worship music began, the taxi driver was standing in the back of the church and obviously wasn't as enthusiastic about being there as the rest. So I prayed. I said God, would you help him to have a good time and would you show him how to worship You? Just a minute or so later, he lifted his hands up every so slightly to worship. I said wow, cool. So I said to God, would you help him to not be distracted by his car not running and help him to worship You even more? In just a minute his hands raised up to shoulder height in worship. Wow!!! So I bumped Sammy (the interpreter) and said watch this - I said Lord, could you also have the taxi driver smile, he looks so sad and down. I am NOT kidding when I say that just a few seconds after that, he smiled and looked up towards me and I smiled back! God is soooooo good! Both Sammy and I were completely amazed at everything we asked for (according to His will) God did!

After worship, Ken preached a message about unity and how important it was that the people of the church are to each other and to the pastor. It was a timely and God orchestrated sermon!! I added a few words and then I thought we were going to leave because we were supposed to teach and minister at another church. Pastor Luis asked if we would pray over everyone there? Everyone lined up in the middle aisle and we prayed and prophseyed over each one. We were utterly amazed at how fluid the prophetic and healing was there. The prophetic words were absolutely dead on and instant healing happened to about 90% of those we prayed for. Can you believe that? I wouldn't if we didn't experience it firsthand!

In the line was our taxi driver. I was amazed he actually got in line for prayer. When he got to the front, the Lord spoke to me to lead him to the Lord. I said to the taxi driver, do you feel you were suppose to be here tonight? He said yes? Do you believe God has something for you tonight? He said yes? Do you understand what it means to become a Christian believer? He said he wasn't sure, so I explained to him what it meant. I said do you want to become a follower of Jesus tonight and come into the family of God? He said YES!!!!!!! I had Sammy pray with him the salvation prayer. Tears were coming down his face. After this, I shared to the entire congregation about the divine set up in the taxi and how his taxi died as we arrived and how God wanted him to come to this service. The crowd laughed and clapped in joy. I said to the church - please welcome him to the family of God, please show him what that looks like. Every single person literally went to him hugged him and kissed him and welcomed him. There was so much love and warmth. It made me cry! When he went back to his seat, he no longer was standing there alone. Others gathered around him. God is good!

After we got done ministering 3 hours later, the entire church went out to the sidewalk to watch as the taxi driver went to start his car. He got in and turned the ignition over. What do you think happened? IT STARTED FIRST TRY!!!!!! He started to laugh and the rest of the church clapped!!!!!!! On the 45 minute drive back to our hotel, he told us that he has never experienced God's power and love before. He realized that this truly was a divine set up. I told Pastor Luis that I felt the Lord wanted him to invite our taxi driver (can't remember his name, sorry) to his church and that he should mentor him and give him a bible. Now remember, I don't understand or speak spanish (yet). Pastor Luis said to me, I just invited him to come to our church, told him I would mentor him and that I had a bible for him. The taxi driver and the rest of us really were so amazed at God's hand in this whole thing.

Also - one more thing that I said in a previous post. Pastor Luis said on the ride back that in November 2010 the Lord gave him a vision of a couple from another country preaching in his church and they would bring life back to his church....and they would move to Peru. He told us that during the services, the Lord confirmed to him that we were that couple and that life came back to his church tonight. He said the countenance of the church changed as we were ministering.

We are still praying and seeking God for direction on a "move". Our sense is another trip there - maybe a longer stay and back again. ????

I am still trying to recover - coughing, chest congestion and exhaustion. Please continue to pray for healing.

If you have a ministry or prayer need or would like us to come teach or speak, we would be delighted to. Our heart is to love God, love others and help others do the same! We want to ignite the body of Christ to walk in radical obedience and total surrender!

God Bless YOU -
Ken & Michele Cole

Move to Peru??? Another miracle?

Can you believe it's been two weeks since we got home from Peru? It seems like we just got home. I am still fighting the cold I got while in Peru. Ok.. so we still want to share some of the amazing God stories that we experienced, but felt that this was the next one on God's agenda for this blog.

This picture above actually is in Mira Flores where my niece lives. This was taken from her apartment window looking across the street. She lives in the "Johnson County" of Lima. It was a much quieter area of town and yet close to the busy financial district. We had a great visit with her and her new husband. He is Peruvian and made us a really yummy chicken aji amarillo dish. I'm going to try my hand at this next week.

We wanted to share with you a few little "inklings" of what God has been speaking to us since September about Peru.

Before we left - I heard a small voice whisper "move to Peru". Next, when I was in my quiet time one day, the Lord gave me a Scripture out of Acts 18:9-11 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God. I joked that maybe we would just stay in Peru for a year and a half. Ha ha!!! Then when we were on Skype with James (the guy who we went with), he had made a comment at the end of our call about if he would move to another country it would be Peru. I asked him why he said that and he didn't really have an answer. Odd? So then when we were talking to the guy who was watching our house and dogs prior to booking our flights, I was asking him if he was flexible on staying longer?? He said, another day, week, month or year, it didn't matter. I also had a vision that a family greeted us and the wife/mother of this family embraced me and then invited us into their home. And then Mary, the lady who was teaching us spanish said the best way to learn spanish is to move in with a spanish speaking family and be fully immersed. Ha!!!

While were in Peru - one of the churches we preached and ministered at, the pastor shared in the taxi this little story. He said that in November the Lord gave him a vision. A couple from another country would come to his church and preach and bring life back into his church.. and then that couple would move to Peru. Well, while we were ministering to his church, the Lord showed him that it was us the vision was about. One night we were at dinner and Prophet Rafael was with us. He was one of the people that came in from Costa Rica to minister at the church for the 12 days of revival. He said the Lord had been speaking to him about us and asked if we wanted to hear. He shared quite a bit but one thing he said was that the Lord was giving us Peru and that He was also giving us South America.. meaning our ministry would reach all of South America. And then in another taxi ride, the taxi driver said he had been listening to us on La Luz Radio and said how much he has been enjoying our teaching and ministering. He said that he wanted to sow into our ministry and that he wasn't going to charge us a fare for the taxi ride (remember they are very poor there - that's a huge sacrifice). Well, he also said that the Lord was going to make us famous all over South America through La Luz and that he felt we would travel not only to Peru but to all of South America to teach and minister.

Ok so do we need more confirmation - YES!!!!! When we got home, the second night I had a dream (in the few minutes I slept)... and this was the dream... That a Dignitary from Peru and his daughter were watching us on La Luz Television and one of the prophetic words of knowledge we had for healing was for his daughter and she was instantly healed as we prayed over the tv. The Dignitary was a "secret" Christian because he worked for the President of Peru. He contacted La Luz and they put him in contact with us. He invited us to move to Peru and move in with him and his family. On another day, I was flipping through a magazine I get monthly from a ministry. The headlines said this: Healing rivers in Peru! The article was about a couple from Oklahoma and the Lord called them to move to Peru and they have been there for 27 years.

Yowseeeeee!!!!!! This is so overwhelming to think about. What you don't know is this... when I got home, I literally asked God not to speak to me because I wasn't interested in hearing what He had to say (if meant moving to Peru). If God would of said to me the first week we were home, "move to Peru next month", I'd have to tell you I don't know whether I could of been obedient or not. The amazing God stuff didn't outweigh the cultural shock I experienced. Really? Yea, really?? I said to God, if you wanted us to move there, you didn't do a very good job of selling me on how wonderful it was. Why??

Don't get me wrong, we loved the people we met, ministered too and Pastor Agapito, his wife Malena and her sister Bibiana were incredible host/hostesses. They were awesome!! I even cried when we were saying our goodbyes.

Ken had a brilliant thought and said if God would of made it a bed of roses, maybe we would of got ahead of Him and moved there prematurely. Maybe that's true? Interesting thought? It took 5 years from when God showed us the two trees to when we actually went, so maybe it will be even longer than that to actually move there!

Several years ago when I was shutting my business down, I asked the Lord why would He have me to close the business down just five years after HE wanted me to open it. He had me in Psalm 37:4. He gave me a different perspective on that verse. It says, those who delight in the Lord, He gives them the desires of their heart. I initially thought that meant that as I spent time with God, as I served Him, He would satisfy my hearts desires, my dreams, etc. And that is true. However, it's not really about my dreams that I've dreamt up, they are His dreams that He has PLACED in my heart. He gave me a vision with this. He was reaching into my heart and He pulled out some old "dreams" and He replaced them with new dreams - His will for my life. He said because you love me so much Michele, I am changing your heart day by day and molding you and shaping you into who I created you to be long before the foundation of the earth began. I gave you the desire to open that business so that I could teach you much more about My Kingdom and then when I felt that those lessons were learned, I changed the desires in your heart. You see I have a purpose for you and you will fulfill that purpose. You are walking on the path I have for you. Continue to trust and believe that I Am for you and that I Am with you every step of the way.

God is an amazing God! He is good and His faithful love endures forever! I don't really have to worry about whether we are moving to Peru or not, because I know that when (and if) He does asks us to move officially, He will have already prepared our hearts and handled all the details. And I know that I will be extremely happy to say yes and to go where He sends me. Even if that means to a country that is way out of my comfort zone. He has good for me/us. His love for us is too great to think otherwise! And that is actually what He is doing. In just two short weeks, I've gone from la la la la, not listening God, to ok God, here I am, send me! Whatever that looks like! I'm Yours!

In the meantime, Ken and I are THANKFUL to be home and appreciating all the blessings God has bestowed on us.... a nice home, a nice comfortable bed, good food, etc. There's much to be thankful for!

If you have a ministry or prayer need or would like us to come teach or speak, we would be delighted to. Our heart is to love God, love others and help others do the same! We want to ignite the body of Christ to walk in radical obedience and total surrender!

God Bless YOU -

Raw & real!

Hola! Como esta? We are home from Peru! What an amazing time we had! The overall trip was incredible and the Lord did some mighty things. I cannot believe how fluid the prophetic and healing was. I think there was only one time I really had to ask the Lord and wait for something. We just opened our mouths and out it came! Total faith that whatever we asked for would happen, and it did! Not a doubt to be found anywhere! These people were expecting miracles and they got them! God is good! We have so many miracle stories to share and we will, but this post I feel the Lord wanted me to share saw real and raw stuff we went through.

Most of you reading this blog know that my life, at least for the past 27 years, has been a battle with my health. I have been dealing with migraines for 27 years. I have a disability in my right leg, called RSD, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, resulting from a knee surgery in 1992. I have chronic neck and back pain. In 2009 I closed my mortgage company down (per the Lord) primarily due to health reasons. I was experiencing chronic fatigue, brain fog, liver issues, etc. It wasn't until 2010 that I was officially diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue and also Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease which was caused from all the pain meds I took for migraines. My immune system and endocrine system was basically crashing. Now I share all this with you to set the stage.

In September, the Lord connected us to James Horan of Fresh Mercy Ministries. We went to Tulsa to meet him and get to know him and only two weeks after that visit, the Lord sprung on us to go to Peru with him. The first question out of my mouth to God was what about my health? How can I travel to a foreign country and have little energy, low immune? I sensed He said He would sustain me. How could I go to a 3rd world country and be ok? However, there were so many confirmations, many of which I shared with you all in previous posts. We knew were to go and all I could do was trust and believe that God would see me through. This was a huge leap of faith. But there I went... jumped into the deep end believing God would take care of things.

We arrived in Peru just before New Years Eve. The New Years Eve services began and we arrived at the church approximately 10pm. It wasn't until almost 230am that James was up to speak. It was 5am when we returned to our hotel. Did I tell you it was extremely hot there. The temperatures were only in the upper 70's, low 80's but the humidity was unbelievable. Of course, we were in jeans, long sleeve shirts and suit jackets as required by the church. We were soaking wet. At midnight, probably 100 people came to hug us and they didn't seem to care how hot we were..but just very loving hospitable people.

Our hotel room was considered a 3 star hotel... and I would guess that is because we had a toilet seat and toilet paper in the room. Our bed was like a sheet of plywood with a thin sheet over it. The pillows were lumpy. The air conditioning was a window open and praise God we had a fan in the room but it was still very hot. Though the hotel was very old, they did a nice job of keeping it clean. Thank God!

On Sunday, James knocked on our door and said come upstairs (to the rooftop restaurant) as he had something he wanted to share with us. What Ken and I had been sensing for a day already became a reality when we got upstairs. James said that he had to get home, that there was a family crisis and it was imperative he was home (back in the usa). FYI- God is definitely working things out there and all is well on that front. So we are on day 2 in a foreign country still trying to get acclimated to the weather, the culture, the food, the language and James tells us he is going home. He is telling the church that he has every confidence that God orchestrated this so that Ken and I would be fully launched into what God has for us in Peru. James interpreter, Sammy would stay the duration of the trip and would be our interpreter. Oh and did I tell you, probably due to all the stresses, I was sick. I had a fever, cough, sore throat and chest congestion. So James changed his flight and fortunately for us wasn't able to get home until Monday. So we had at least all day Sunday and most of Monday with him watching his routine there before he left. That was a blessing!

Our schedule there was pretty much the same each day.... we would wake up, eat breakfast at the hotel... Pastor Agapito from the church Fuente de Benedicion would pick us up, we would go to the tv station, Ken would preach for about 10 minutes, then I would share 15-20 minutes of prophetic words of knowledge the Lord gave me and pray over each of them (and the tv station would get calls in while on air, confirming the words and that they were healed by the prayers), then we would pray over prayer petitions live on air. After tv, we would often move to radio and do the same thing. We would then have lunch around 4 or 5 and then would go to the church or another church to preach and minister until late. After that service we would go for dinner and then back to the hotel to bed. On average we would get about two to three hours of sleep.

In Peru, most of the public restrooms (except the very nice restaurants) had NO toilets seats, no toilet paper, no soap or paper towels. Thankfully, the Lord gave us some knowledge of this before we left - so we had lots of kleenex and hand sanitizer with us. But to actually experience it firsthand (even with prior knowledge) did not make it any easier. Especially when you are sick, you want clean.

Ken and I have learned a very nice song that reminds us of Peru. :) Everywhere you go, you hear "beep beep" and in many different sounds and styles of horns. This is because there are 9 million people driving all at once (ok just a little exaggerated) and they don't stop for pedestrians or for red lights or stop signs, they just beep their horn twice to forewarn you they are coming through. At first the noise level from cars, horns, busses, people was overwhelming but before the end of the trip, it became music to our ears. We never saw someone show any anger or impatience on the road and in so much traffic. The traffic was crazy but yet there was a peace to it all. Very odd! This is a city that does NOT sleep!!!!!

The people we were with and the church people we ministered to were the most humble and hospitable people we have ever met. If you went to the restroom, they escorted you and sometimes at the church, someone would hand you a paper towel to dry your hands off with (instead of using your pants). If we used a taxi, there was somebody from the church in the taxi with you and they paid the fare. Everytime we went to eat, they order family style and its free for all in eating. I think only once or twice when we ate on our own did we eat from our own plates.

The food was good - good flavor but I had no idea what I was eating most of the time. They have over 5000 variety of potatoes so I know we ate lots of those. I tried Ceviche (the crab one) which is raw fish cooked in lime juice. Tasty. Ken was more brave and at the fish and octopus variety. Most of the dishes the bones, fat and skin were in it. Great flavor, crazy textures!

Many people are poor but they are generous - generous in spirit, in love, in humility, in serving you, in hospitality. I fell in love with a little girl there and would love to have brought her home. Pastor Agapito and his wife Marlena and her sister Bibiane (i think that's how you spell it) were such a delight. When we were saying our goodbyes, we cried. Their hearts are so in love with Jesus! We love that!

On the flight home from Peru, I think everyone on the plane wanted to shoot me. I was sooooooo sick and coughing literally non stop. I coughed so hard that I was vomiting pfleghm. I know, probably too much information but the reality was that I was miserable. I just wanted to be home and in my own bed. I have to say that this was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. The whole time I was there, I kept asking God why? Why did you allow me to get sick? I thought You were going to sustain me? I begged and pleaded for my healing but it never came. I was really questioning my faith and yet God was doing so many miracles through us. It was the best of times and the worst of times. I still don't have the answers but I do know that God loves me very much and does have my best interests at heart. I have been in bed since we arrived home and am resting and recouping very slowly. Please pray for healing!! And THANK YOU to those who have been praying. If you hadn't been, I wouldn't have survived this trip.

One last story before I end this post. Five years ago, Ken and I had a prophetic word given to us that we would be traveling and that we would have an international ministry. The person shared a vision they had of us and saw two trees. They didn't have an interpretation for that. I often joked that it meant a "Doubletree" hotel and Ken would say it was two trees holding a hammock. Three years ago we were at Morningstar Church in South Carolina . Ken and I were selected to sit in a circle and 50 people prophyseid over us - international ministry, cargo coming from a plane to use to provide to those in need, and again someone said I see two trees. There were several folks that confirmed the two trees.

When we arrived at our hotel - Hotel Internacional - the logo we saw behind the front desk jumped out at us! It was the two trees!!! The picture at the top of this post is the logo!! You should be able to click on picture and enlarge it. Can you believe God orchestrated this trip 5 years ago!!!!!

And what's more interesting... is that we feel that we are to return to Peru.... and possibly move there... short or long term, we don't know yet. We are praying and asking God for clarity.... We will share more on this in future posts!

If you feel led to support us and the ministry God has for us, this is how you can do so!

Post from Peru

Just a quick note from Peru. It is amazing, hard, exciting, exhilirating, crazy, surprising and God is a sneaky God! HA! Oh and it is hot... long jeans, long sleeve shirts and hot, hot, hot. NO a-c. And did I tell you that there are 9 million people here. The traffic is crazy. And we have been driving around with 6 of us in a little toyota corolla, 4 in the back, me on Kens lap.

New Years Eve the service went from 10p to 5a. Wow! Peruvians party to all hours of the morning! When we get home, I will type up different stories.. but know that God has been showing up mightily. Just about everybody we have prayed for in person, on the radio and on tv has been healed. The words of knowledge have been flowing, creative miracles, deaf ears opened two different people. I prayed for a little girl Delila and fell in love with her. I dont know if I will see her again but if I do, I may just bring her home. HA!

My health has taken a slight turn downwards... achey, fever, migraines, chest congestion and cough. Gods grace is here!

As I said earlier, God is sneaky.... James the guy we came with is on the way to the airport as I type this. Please keep him and his family in prayer. So.. God used James to get us here and now Ken and I are on our own. We do have Sammy, his translator with us and we bonded instantly with him. He is fun! So please pray for how God will use us leading. Tonight when he started the service, he called us up and prayed a blessing over us and released us to this church. They received us well and we are excited to have some more fun with them!

I have to tell you real quickly...five years ago the Lord spoke to us and showed us a picture of two trees..two years later we were at Morningstar in South Carolina and they prophysied over us we would travel and they saw two trees. Ken and I always joke about that... he says it is two trees and a hammock and I tell him it means a Doubletree hotel. Well, are you sitting down.. the first night we arrived at our hotel...Hotel Internacional, the logo is two trees!!!!! I think it was a compromise..because it is NOT the Doubletree..and it is not a hammock but somewhere in between. Can you believe that 5 years ago God had planned for us to be here! God is good!

We will get to see my niece on Friday and meet her new husband... and then home Saturday arriving Sunday. Cannot wait for that! Whoohoo!

Thank YOU, muchos gracias, to all of you who have been praying for us. We feel the love and we are giving it away to the Peruvians! They are precious children of God! Whoohoo! God is good and His faithful love endures forever.

Anyways, got to go for now.. but more when we return. Adios amigos!

Final update before Peru - Mark your calendars - Events coming up in January & February

Feliz Navidad y Feliz Ano Nuevo!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

We are just a few days out from being in Peru! Time flies!

We want to THANK YOU for those who have made a financial gift towards this trip! If you gave through Helping Hands, we DO NOT know who you are unless you let us know directly. So if we have not said thank you, this is why! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!! Muchos gracias!

THANK YOU to those who have offered to pray while we are in Peru and those who are praying for us now! The prayers are being felt. The fear is gone! Praise God! I still have a tad of anxiety, but I think that's just because we leave soon. But Phil 4:6 is what I've been standing on this week, just in case! Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. I give thanks for you who have been such an encouragement to us and supporting us however the Lord has led you. That means everything to us! I am thankful because I have really seen God's faithfulness in this! His provision for every detail. He doesn't miss a thing! I am thankful that I know God is with us and He is in this. He has given us no reason to doubt and every reason to believe that He is who says He is! Praise the Lord - Alabado sea Dios!

If I can get online, I will write a post from Peru to let you know what's going on with us!

Please continue to pray for us and James the guy we are going with - traveling mercies - safe & smooth flights - luggage arrives with us on all flights and anything else related to flying. Please pray for health - that God will sustain me/us and that He even increases energy and endurance levels and no sickness! Please pray that the Lord uses us mightily and that we make an impact that will influence the Peruvians towards a deep(er) relationship with Jesus!

Thank you again and again and again for all you have done!

Our prayer for you:

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you,
and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
and give you peace!

May God Bless You!!
Que Dios los bendiga!

Fear not! I am with you in Peru!

Can you believe that we leave for Peru next week?

This past week I've been chewing on Proverbs 16:3 from the Amplified Bible - Roll your works upon the Lord (commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and) so shall your plans be established and succeed. I have to say I've been struggling with the trust part. As you have read in previous posts, for me going to Peru is quite out of my comfort zone. I'm sure I'm going to love the people and love what God does there. That's not my fear. The fear is really irrational - fear of the unknown, I guess. Which equates to, do I trust God? Will He protect me? Will He keep me from harm? Will He provide my needs (ok and my comforts)?

God's Word is clear. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He even gave me this Scripture to meditate on and take comfort in: Acts 18:9-11 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God. The Lord has brought people around me/us this past month to speak into our lives, to share what they know, their experiences in traveling to a foreign land. Most has been comforting and encouraging. My logical mind knows all will be ok, but yet I still allow fear and unbelief to enter. And yet, God is so patient and loving and intentional to point me towards His Truth!

Let's get back to the Scripture I shared at the beginning of this post. The Lord is teaching me (I'm a slow learner) to commit (trust, pledge, to put God in charge) of this trip. Trust Him completely and then my thoughts (these fearful thoughts) will change and line up with HIs thoughts (renewing my mind, choosing to say I trust You God instead of dwelling on the fears) and then the plans that we have in Peru will be established and set in place and will succeed. And to me succeed means - God will have His way and the love of Jesus will flow out of us and into those who need a touch from the Lord. God is using this trip to help me face my fears and overcome, because we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!! We are more than conquerors!

Peru facts:

There is 60% un/under employment because jobs are hard to find. Peru is considered one of the poorest countries in the world. There are 9 million people in Lima, Peru - that is more than New York City!!!!!
Rapid population growth
Limited space for city expansion (location in a valley, limited to the east by the Pacific Ocean, to the west by the Andes)
Informal way of urban development, in which people settle on the land before it even has been developed
Division of Lima into 43 separate districts, each with its own mayor and municipality (making joined decisions very difficult)
Undeveloped or even missing infrastructure and poverty in poorer areas and slums
Immense traffic without proper public transport system
Heavy air pollution
Lack of rain
Social inequality

Our prayer is that we will touch every person that God wants us to touch and that they will know the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit will overtake them! We want to see the fire of God burn the hearts of each soul and they will follow Jesus with radical obedience!

Again, we want to THANK YOU to all of you who have supported us financially. If you gave through Helping Hands, we do not know who you are (that is ok - unless you want us to know). So, we are saying THANK YOU here and that your gift is greatly appreciated. We are still short a sizeable amount but believe God will provide to the last penny.

THANK YOU to all who are praying for us and who have offered to pray for us during our trip. I will be sending out a prayer letter in the next week for specific things. If you would like to pray for us, please let me know.

God's faithfulness - update on Peru - answered prayer - mark your calendar

Saludos en el nombre del Senor Jesuscristo!
(Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ).

For the Lord is GOOD and His faithful love endures forever!

We are less than 3 weeks out going to Peru! God is stretching my Type "A" personality. You know the one HE gave to me! Well, that's what I keep telling Him! Ha! :) We are still in need of funds to cover the ministry trip.... but we know God is providing in His own way and in His own timing!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to those who have made a contribution to the trip, whether it be prayer, funds, spanish lessons (mucho gracias), dog/house sitting, packing tips, plane ticket ideas, etc. We even had several offer up frequent flier miles - but unfortunately that didn't work out! All of this is extremely beneficial! We are so thankful! Thank YOU to all of YOU!!! Bless YOU!!!!!!

God is good! All the time. I wanted to share another testimony on how God is providing for our trip to Peru.

Back in the summer, we contacted a friend to give us a bid on building a wall in our home. He told us he wouldn't be able to help us because he didn't have the proper tool and gave us the name of someone else. So we called that person. He came out, gave us a bid and we agreed to go ahead and have him do the work. Well, unfortunately, he never showed up. Eventually, we just gave up on him doing the job. Last month a friend of ours offered to come out and help us build the wall, no charge! Whoohoo! Praise God. He came out, measured and then was going to create a list of items we needed to get. In the meantime, the guy we originally asked back in the summer called us and he said he had the tool now and if we still needed him, he would help. We told him we had a friend who was willing to do it for no charge but if he wanted to give us a bid, we would pray about it. So, he came out, took some measurements and then said he'd get back to us on the bid. A day or so later, he called and wanted to come over and discuss the bid. We ended up talking for about four hours - not about the wall but about what God was doing in his life and in our life and our trip to Peru. By the end of the night he said I am not going to charge you to do the wall. We said, no seriously we can pay you. He said no, I think God wants me to do this for you. Wow! The next day he text me and asked if he could come back and remeasure a few areas. When he got to the house, he backed his truck up in the driveway. Odd?? No, he had gone out and bought much of the supplies we need. He said the Lord told him to sow into our ministry and so not only is he not charging for the labor, he is helping with the cost of much of the supplies! What do you think about that? (So we took what we were going to spend on the wall and applied it to Peru). God is good! That's all I can say.

For HIS Glory!!!

If you feel led to support us - prayer, financial contribution or something else that you think we may need to know, please don't hesitate to contact us! This is our first ministry trip - and first trip overseas! Your experiences are good wisdom!

Here's a quick story on how God answered yet another prayer relating to Peru:
You know when you have an illness, you shouldn't google the symptoms, right? Because you learn more than you need to and then think you are dying. Well, the same is true with going to foreign countries... well at least Peru. I learned about the high crime. You can't carry a purse, they'll cut it off your shoulder or hold you at knife point. You can't keep a wallet in your pocket, they will pickpocket you (and they are professional). You can't wear jewelry or at least anything worthwhile to wear as they will steal it from you. Etc, etc, etc. Well, I was getting a bit worked up. I was asking the Lord to calm my fears. I'm a wuss! That day in my quiet time, I was reading in the book of Acts - Chapters 17-19. Chapter 18:9-11 jumped out at me like a neon sign!
Here's what it says: One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God. How cool and how comforting to know! His Word is such a gift! Now just for the record, after speaking with my niece, and James and a friend who used to live there... you do have to be cautious but it's not as scary as it used to be there.

Ken and I continue to pray about Peru, who we will meet there, our travels to and from, James Horan (the guy we are going with) and his family. God has been giving us some pretty cool downloads of specific locations to go to. (we've googled them to be sure they are there-and they are). Thank you for keeping us covered in prayer as the Lord leads you!

I want to share a 10 minute video that will inspire you, I hope. This is so what the world needs - more people like this guy!

Who can you impact and influence! And update on Peru!

This weekend, the small group we attend were discussing who we could serve on a regular basis. We all had great ideas - work in a soup kitchen, befriend different people at a nursing home, pray for and rake leaves/shovel driveways for folks who can't do it themselves and so on. What we see is that there are so many needs out there and we could never meet them all. There is need in every community, every city, every state, country, world, etc! As individuals or as a group of believers, where do you begin? How do you make the decision on who to serve? I look to John 5:30 which says I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge and My judgement is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. In Proverbs it says to seek the Lord and He will show you what path to take. We must sit quiet and ask the Lord to show us who and where to serve. We need to be doing what we see the Father doing. When He is at the center of it, more lives are impacted and influenced for the Kingdom of God.

Ken and I often sit down and ask the Lord if there is someone who has a need - whether it be financial, healing or otherwise. We ask the Lord who He wants to bless, where to go and what specifically we are to do when we get there. Often times He will send us to a hospital room to pray for someone. We have seen salvations, physical, emotional and/or spiritual healing.

Some of you may have heard this story but it's one I love to share because God is so good and so loving! I remember one time, the Lord gave us details to visit room 417, bed 1, Olathe Medical Center. We heard broken heart. On the way to the hospital we heard John 17:21 which at the end of the verse it says, they will know I sent you. John being the 4th gospel, 17th chapter to coincide with the room number we were going to. We entered the room and approached the lady in bed 1. We asked her if we could pray for her and she said yes but told us she had a contagious disease and we need to put the gloves on for protection. When we walked up to her bedside, we asked her if she believed in Jesus and she said yes and that she had accepted Him as her Lord and Savior 20 years ago. We began to pray. The Lord had me hold her hand while we were praying. She was taken back that I would want to hold her hand. As I prayed, the Holy Spirit gave me the words to pray. I said God, there is something specific she is asking You for and I ask that You would honor her hearts desire. She began to cry. After we finished praying, she said to us "I know the Lord sent you to me, because just five minutes before you walked in, I was praying and asking the Lord to either heal me or take me home to heaven. You see I'm lonely and I have a broken heart and in walked my brother and sister in Christ to pray for me. She went on to say that she had been in and out of the hospital for the past year with this disease and she didn't have many visitors due to the contagious part of it. A few days later I found out, she was released from the hospital and was completely healed! Praise God!!

I believe the Lord wants to use us ALL to reach others. There are so many people out there who need a touch from God whether they know the Lord or not!! The only way He can reach them all is if we are willing to seek His will, His direction and then be obedient and step in faith to do what He calls us to do! This is how we can make an impact in the world, one life at a time. The definition of impact means intentional collision. These are my favorite words...impact and intentional. Do you want to make an impact? If so, you must choose to be intentional in what you do each day.

This morning in my quiet time, I was reading in the book of 2 Corinthians Chapter 8. Several verses jumped out at me that relate to our discussion yesterday and what I just mentioned above.

Verse 3-5 - For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord begging us with much urging favor of participation in the support of the saints, and this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and to us by the will of God.

When people give themselves to the Lord, when they spend time His Word and time just listening and seeking His Kingdom, His will is revealed to us. He will show us who He wants to touch. He will show us who has need. He will show us what cause to support.

Verse 10-15 - I give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a year ago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it. But now finish doing it also, so that just as there was the readiness to desire it, so there may be also the completion of it by your ability. For if the readiness is present, it is acceptable, according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. For this is not for the ease of others and for your affliction, but by way of equality at this present time, your abundance being a supply for their need, so that their abundance also may become a supply for your need, that there may be equality; as it is written, He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little had no lack. Amen!

Ken and I have been living these verses lately. Over the last 8 or 9 years, the Lord has been teaching us the principle of giving. For a long while we had what we would say the resources to give. We had an abundant supply. We gave cheerfully. We gave according to what we had and our ability. Our abundance was a supply for others.

We have also learned the spiritual law of sowing and reaping and now we definitely are seeing that as you give, it will be given back to you (Luke 6:38). Our supply has dwindled down. We are in a season of receiving. I have to say honestly it's not quite as fun as giving. It's humbling. It's hard. It's hard because we have to totally trust God for our needs to be met. That's not always easy when we have been used to having "abundant supply". But God is faithful and He has been showing us that for a while. Each day, we give Him thanks and praise for what He has supplied, for the blessings He does give us. He surrounds us with people who encourage us. What a gift friends are from God!

Our readiness and desire to give is even greater now, though we would call our resources in "lack". How cool is that! As God lays people on our hearts - we step out in faith to give, to support or to encourage.

So today, I encourage you to seek the Lord. Ask Him what His will is for you today! What would He have you do today to bless someone in need. It may not be financial. It may be someone you work with, neighbor, friend, family or even a total stranger! Faith is action! And if you're willing, email us and let us know what God did through you today or this week! We'd love to hear your stories!

UPDATE ON PERU!

First - THANK YOU to those of you who have been so kind in donating to us. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! We are still about $3500 short with only 25 days to go (plane tickets to purchase). And THANK YOU for those who have offered to keep us covered in prayer between now and the end of our trip. That is probably the most important part for us! My health has been slowly improving. I am still getting over a bad chest cold but the worst is behind me. My doctors are seeing results on the adrenal fatigue and other issues, as they have been changing out medicines and supplements. Praise God for wisdom for the doctors!! Please continue to pray for complete physical healing!!

I got a call from a friend who gave me some tips on how to shop for airline tickets - and was able to find some flights that will be more affordable. Another great idea is frequent flier miles. What would work most affordably is if someone had 40,000 or 80,000 Continental or United miles they would use to help book our flights. I've checked into transferring miles to our account (as someone has offered) but the cost to do so, would be a lot! Thank you Lord for friends with experience and great ideas!

Ken and I have been spending some time in prayer about Peru and the people we will meet there. He has been good in showing us some locations and clues (as we would call them) on who to pray for! Whoohoo!! We can't wait to get there!!!

Bless you again!
