Adventures - Update on move to Eldo!

Adventures - Update
About us

ad-ven-ture
noun - an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity
verb - to engage in hazardous and exciting activity, esp. the exploration of unknown territory

The other day I flipped through my old journal and I saw a page dated back in May.  Something caught my eye.  I read where the Lord showed me that the next season was going to be an adventure.  I had the definition above written in my journal. He said that He was going to reveal more of who He is through this adventurous season. I apparently didn't meditate on that long - or have divine forgetfulness.  I'm not real fond of hazardous activities or experiences and not much into exploring unknown territory!  :)

In May, we didn't have our house on the market.  It wasn't until August.  In May we didn't know we were moving to El Dorado Springs, MO?

Adventure takes on many meanings when God is orchestrating it.  One meaning that's not listed above, I believe could be added is faith.  The exploration of unknown territory could also be called faith, right?  The bible says that "faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."  Hebrews 11:1
 unknown territory - cannot see

Yesterday's adventure - To start with, I hadn't slept a wink the night before, my adrenals were depleted, pain levels were up and emotions were all over the place as I continue to mourn the ending of one season.  We were going from Excelsior Springs, MO (our temporary housing) to El Dorado Springs, Mo where we are moving into a rental home.

The snow and sleet started just as we were getting ready to take off in the UHaul.  I'm not fond of wintry weather!  Prayers went up asking God for His protection and covering as we traveled.  Others who know me were texting letting me know they were praying too!  The roads were ok really all the way down to Eldo.  Praise God!

What we found when we got there was a bit unsettling.  The house was NOT ready for us as promised.  The owners/landlords were NOT completely moved out.  Quite a bit of stuff still there including a refrigerator, pantry items, furniture and lots of miscellaneous junk.  And...the house was filthy!  Ugh!  We had no choice but to unload the UHaul as we had our refrigerators with us that needed to be plugged back in, so we cleared a spot in the kitchen and Ken and his brother Brian (thanking God for) unloaded.  We got delayed a bit when we needed to borrow a screwdriver to get the door off the hinge to move the refrigerator in.  Ken called Earl.  Earl, Terry & Linda are from our new church.  They showed up and God showed off through them!  They cleared out and cleaned the entire kitchen, pantry, sunroom and garage!!  They rolled up their sleeves and got busy (and stayed even after we had to leave).  My heart is so thankful!

When we were returning the UHaul and getting ready to head back towards Excelsior Springs, freezing drizzle had started again.  The UHaul dealer told us that 71 Highway was solid ice and the cars weren't exceeding 35mph.  We immediately prayed asking for God's protection and safe travels!  The windshield was becoming more difficult to see through the ice forming on it.  The roads seemed ok, but we saw car after car in the ditches.  I think the delay leaving Eldo was God's protection.  Brian had noticed that most of the cars in the ditches were tagged by police already, which means they happened at least an hour or more prior?) My sister  (who was watching our dogs back in Excelsior - also extremely thankful to God for) had texted and said there was a 20 car pile up along our path.  (adventure - typically hazardous).  Not only was there a 20 car pile up, we saw accident after accident right smack in the middle of rush hour traffic.  However, we had God on our side.  He got us home safely with no incidences and got Brian and my sister Jackie back home safely from Excelsior.  Whoohoo!

My nerves were shot, my adrenals more than depleted, I was completely wiped out and ready for bed!   But then we talked to the owners/landlord.  They were not able to get to the house that night to finish loading, cleaning as they were handling many emergencies, of course, as paramedics.  They said they would get there today, Saturday to finish up...... besides the moving and cleaning to do, they have painting in 3 areas and repairs on the breezeway to do.  If they do not get it done, we have to delay our big moving truck move on Monday and find a place to move into with the dogs in the meantime.  The home we are in now, we could probably stay, but really can't afford to budget any more for housing - we are paying storage fees for our things on the moving truck and rent now in Eldo.  We will choose to trust God is our provider and He will meet our needs!  Phil 4:19

Adventure -  the landlord then went on to tell Ken they had someone interested in buying the home immediately.  The house was on the market for sale until we knocked on the door and asked if we could rent.  They agreed to rent it to us and take it OFF the market until the end of our six months lease at which time we could buy the house, or rent month to month until the house sold.  So, what does that mean with our lease IF they sell the house now?  Should we tell them they made a commitment to us to give us first right of refusal to purchase home and hold them to it? So many questions, so many unknowns - live the adventure!  If you don't remember or haven't read the previous blog posts on this subject, you won't know that there is absolutely NOTHING to rent in El Dorado Springs that is big enough, doable or available.  This home was provided to us by God in the 11th hour.  We would prefer to purchase a home.....but until God does what He has shown us, that can't happen!

In the meantime, we have one choice...that is to trust God will see us through this hiccup (not a mountain, right?)

Please, please keep us in prayer for those of you who are praying!  Pray the house will be ready today (preferably) and if so, pray we can travel safely as freezing rain and snow fell over night.  Pray for my health to be restored completely.  Pray for God to multiply our finances!  We are thankful, blessed and anxiously awaiting a reprieve from this little season of exciting, unusual, typically hazardous and unknown territory of adventures!

Oh... and one more thing.  This part of adventure is EXCITING!  Yesterday on the way down to Eldo, I was talking to God reflecting on the past season and was asking Him why Eldo? What's there?  He told me that revival was blowing in and that we would get to experience a great harvest for His Kingdom.  Then John 4:38 dropped into my spirit.  It says I sent you to reap what you have not worked for.  Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."  He went on to say that though this looks like demotion, it's not.  You are being promoted.  This is a time of favor, blessings and exceedingly greater things that you could imagine or hope for.

And... the Lord is still stirring an excellent word in my heart for the church.  Can't wait to get that blogged.

God Bless YOU -

About us:

Ministry -
Ken and I love to pray for folks who need a touch from the Lord - with words of encouragement, words of knowledge and a healing touch.  If you are someone in need, please let us know.  We also have a passion to activate and influence believers to walk in radical obedience to a fun and wonderful God!  There is just nothing like it!

If you are interested in Ken and I coming to minister to you, your small group or church, or go on a "treasurehunt" with us, please give us a call or email.  We would be delighted to!

Business -
Our LLC is official - Want InSight Chaplain Services.  We still have many things that need to be done, logo design, website, etc.... waiting on God to provide the resources and further direction.

In the meantime,  would you please help us?  Do you know of an employer who often experiences high absenteeism due to the employees having personal issues?  Or maybe has little employee engagement due to struggles on or off the job?  We can help with that.
We are looking for companies who truly care about their employees and want to offer a business enrichment program that can increase productivity, improve employee and employer morale and provide a safe and emotionally health work environment.  If you know of someone who may be interested, would you be willing to give us an introduction?    We are determined and blessed to have this opportunity to create a cultural change in the workplace!
