Are YOU Doing What YOU Were Created To Do?

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:10 ESV

This morning in my quiet time, I was reading a commentary on 1 Kings 5.  This is about Solomon building the temple.  In the commentary, a line jumped out at me.  "Let God's promises quicken our endeavor."    and then a quote I saw on social media. "Don't count the days' make the days count."  Danny Courtney.

I sat with those two statements and Ephesians 2:10 came to mind.

I want to ask you a blunt question.   Are you doing what you were created to do?   Seriously, think about that for a moment.   One question I ask people when we I first meet someone is - if you could do anything at all, your greatest passion, and not have to worry about money or anything else, what would it be?    Years ago, the Lord showed me that He truly is the one who gives us the desires IN our heart.  He prepared good works for us long before we were born.  As we mature and grow, He puts us in situations and places and introduces us to people who can help us get to the "place of good works" He predestined for us.   Think about Joseph for a minute.  God gave him a dream.  Has God give you a dream?   He gave Joseph a dream and he shared that dream with his brothers.  He shared it because he was excited about it.  He wanted to jump right into it.  But God had different plans.  God had to prepare him for it.  God had to take him through trials, testing and perseverance so that when it was time, He would be "prepared" to do the good works God predestined for His life.    The same is true for us.  God gives us many talents and gifts and resources as we grow and mature.  He molds us and shapes us into the person He needs us to be, so we can fulfill the purpose, calling and destiny on our lives.   While we are going through that process, we don't always understand or we think we must not be hitting the mark.  Or others think we are missing the boat, somehow.  Believe me I know that!   Everything that happens to us, whether good, evil or human intent, God uses to bring us to the place He has for us.

Let's go back to those two statements.....

1. Let God's promise quicken our endeavors -  God called Solomon to build the temple.  He didn't waste any time.  He took hold of the promise and the call and he was INTENTIONAL.   He put the pieces in motion and He got to see the results.  God predestined Solomon to be the one to do this.  God asked Solomon what he wanted.  God would give him anything he asked.  And his answer was wisdom and understanding.  He didn't ask for wealth or power.  He asked for wisdom.  Let us all endeavor to ask God for wisdom that He freely gives so that we can be sure we are DOING what He prepared in advance for us to do.

2.  Don't count the day's, make the days count - this goes right along with that.  Each day when you get out of bed, do you seek the Lord and ask Him what He wants you to do today?  Or do you just get up and do what you're used to doing.  I can't say I do this everyday, but I do often ask Him, what is on your heart Lord.  Who do you want me to pray for?  Will you create a divine appointment or divine connection?  And then, I wait on Him, listen for His voice and act on whatever He says.

Ken and I are NOT where we feel God has predestined for us YET!   I do feel we are on the path and He is leading and guiding us.   Our passion and desire is to step into the fullness of His call on our lives.  We are doing it on a smaller scale and long for the more.....    I want to share a recommendation from our previous pastors in El Dorado Springs, MO that relates to this.....

“Our lives have been enriched for the past four years by the ministry of Ken and Michele Cole. We have been blessed to be their pastor during a portion of this time, but beyond that, we have found this friendship to be a rare pastor-parishioner relationship in which we have received more than we have given. Anyone would be hard pressed to "out give" this couple who live out their calling every day.

Ken and Michele have a heart for pastors and missionaries. It is rare to come across people like this who so intimately understand the demands of ministry! They continually ask us how they can pray for us, and then they DO IT. They are incredibly gifted with discernment, intercession, hospitality, faith, helps, teaching, exhortation, and service, and they utilize their gifts effectively to bring glory to God and refreshment to others.

Interestingly, though they have not yet entered their promised land (a retreat center where they can expand their ministry), for the past four years they have given 100% of their energies in ministry while waiting in the desert. They have continued to believe God was going to provide, all the while seeking out individuals who they could encourage and minister to. They haven't focused solely on the pastoral families in our church, but to multiple other pastors, leaders, and lay people; countless people in a wide geographical area have had life poured into them by Ken and Michele. Their home is filled with people nearly every day of the week, as they feed them amazing meals (we could write a whole chapter here; what unbelievable chefs they are!), pray over them, love on them, and support and serve them with their ears, hands, and hearts.

It is our feeling that God has been preparing, grooming, and refining Ken and Michele, but it is time for their ministry to move to a new level. A couple like this - so gifted and sold out to God and His purposes for their lives - needs a bigger platform so as to minister to greater numbers of thirsty and weary pastors and leaders. We continue to pray that God will, in His abundant provision, allow them to purchase a retreat property to continue to serve in an even greater capacity.

Thank you for considering our recommendation of Ken and Michele Cole as worthy recipients of financial backing in the realization of God's vision and plan for them”

In His service, Joe and Faith Trussell

What is it that you would do if you could do anything?
What brings life to you?  What purpose has God created you for that can expand the Kingdom?  That can help the lonely, brokenhearted?  Feed the hungry?  Reach the lost?  Minister to those in need?

Are you doing it?

Make every day count for the Kingdom!  Step into the plans God has for you.

Some very specific prayer needs.....

Additional income.  We are in a rental that is twice what we were paying for.  This is the only one God opened the door for.  It's also that time of year when all our insurances come due.   We are feeling the pressure.... and are trusting God to meet our needs.  He has been so faithful in many ways.   He has always met our needs.... it's just not always fun to have to rely on Him and not consistent income.

We leave for Cancun 11/7-11/12.  Thankful that the entire trip, flight, resort, food, shuttle, tours etc are all paid for by the by company Thrive Life....   however we will have to pay taxes on the cost of the trip.   I am also a little apprehensive leaving the country still dealing with chronic pain in feet, knee, back and little sleep.  The flight days will be 12-14 hours long arriving at midnight in Mexico...and departure is early am so we have to be up by 3am.   That's about the time I get my best sleep.    Please pray for God's grace to give me peace...no anxiety.    We haven't been on a plan since 2011.  We haven't had a real vacation since then.  We are looking forward to feet in the sand and good food!

Please pray for my continued healing...  Pray for my Thrive Life business to be sufficient to help pay our bills.

Please pray for Ken's safety on job and for 40 hours a week over the winter months...that's when it tends to slow down some.

Please let me know how I can pray for you.  I am thankful for those who reach out with prayer requests.

Hugs, love and prayers.

Vision

God has given us a vision to build a retreat property along with ministry equipping center.

The retreat portion of our ministry is to provide a safe place for pastors, lay leaders & other ministry folks to come and be refreshed & encouraged through prophetic ministry (if wanted).  We will offer private cabins with kitchens & full bathrooms, and plenty of places to roam on the property to get quiet with the Lord.

We will offer other specialty retreats - marriage, healing, prophetic teaching & activating people into the world & health and wellness retreats and more.

The Lord has graced us with the desire to come alongside the Church - to bring healing, deliverance & freedom to new/newer believers.  We are not wanting to replace their church, but better help them be ready to serve in their church.

In our community building - we will eventually have a 24/7 prayer room, healing & prophetic rooms and a place for community worship services for those on the property.

Our passion is to minister to a lost & hurting world.   To equip the saints to do the same and to be a blessing to our community and surrounding areas.  Our hopes are that we can pour out God's love in a mighty way to bring more and more souls into the Kingdom, get them discipled, called into their purpose & destiny and released to do God's business!!!!  We also have a passion to give generously to help those in need and to help others launch into their God given destinies.

Tell My People to Prepare......Their Hearts

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13

As I was sitting here this morning, I asked the Lord what was on His heart.  What did He want His people to hear today.  And I heard "tell my people to prepare....their hearts."

Well, that's a loaded statement.  Who am I Lord to answer that question?  And He says.... wisdom from above will lead you and guide you.

Who knows that our world we live in is in very tumultuous times?  What news can we trust? What can we hear or read that is truth and not biased and leading opinions?

One of my favorite quotes is this by Abraham Lincoln - "Don't believe everything you read on the internet"     Ok....I'm pretty sure he didn't really say this - but just making a point.  LOL!!

How can we prepare our hearts?  What does that look like? How can we know truth from lies or truth from half truths?  How can we know which direction God wants us to go?

I can only look to the Scriptures to find these answers - here are a few I found:

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. Isaiah 30:21

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  James 1:5

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.  Jeremiah 33:3 (Ken's life verse)

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.  John 16:13

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.  Psalm 32:8

There are so many nuggets of wisdom in the Word of God that give us assurance that God leads us, that He is directing our steps and that we know His voice.

We often second guess ourselves.  We ask is this God's will.  If it's in His Word or doesn't contradict His word, it is most likely Him.

The most important thing we can do now TO PREPARE OUR HEARTS is to truly be committed to reading, studying and applying His Word in our lives.   The more we fill ourselves with His Truth, the more we will be confident in knowing what God is saying to us.  We will find ourselves in peace in the midst of trials and tribulation.   We will find provision in the midst of lack.  We will find strength and encouragement in the midst of uncertainty.

The next would be to committed to a home group/fellowship.  The Church is great and I'm not discounting what that can do for us......but it is in the smaller home groups that we become real. We are more likely to be authentic and transparent which enables us to grow and become more like Christ.

We also need to be "practicing" hearing God's voice.  It's easy to discount what we hear as our voice, or easily the voice of the enemy (John 10:10) but how do we practice hearing God's voice...  first and foremost it means get in the Word.  His voice will become second nature.  The other that I learned early on - if you have an intersecting thought.  Imagine with me you're going about your day and someone's name pops in your head.  Ask the Lord why? Ask the Lord how He wants you to pray?  Ask the Lord if you should reach out to them and just let them know you're thinking of them and praying for them.  Being on the receiving end of that is encouraging at least.    Here's a recent example of that.  Yesterday morning I was sitting with the Lord and this couple (who I do not know) who lives in Mexico came to mind.  (they are friends of friends our home group).   I began to pray as I felt a spirit of death on the husband.  I felt he was in a very dark place and he wasn't safe.  I reached out to my friend and she told me that he had attempted suicide and was in the hospital.  I told her what I had sensed and added a few other things I heard.  She said it was spot on.

God wants us to know His voice.  He wants us to be so deeply in love with Him that we will do whatever He says to do.  We must be obedient and we must ACT on whatever it is.  Sometimes that will be for our own protection and safety and other times it will be for others.  We need to be able to encourage the body of Christ in these tumultuous times.  We need to be sober and alert.  We need to know that He will give us the grace we need to accomplish all He asks.

Are you willing?  Are you willing to look different & act different than the world?  Are you willing to do whatever He says without question?

I am!!  I'm all in.  I won't say it's easy, but it's rewarding and He is faithful!

What is He asking of you today?  Will you do it?

Here's a little excerpt from David Jeremiah:

Never forget, prophecy is practical!
God lets us in on His plans for the future so we can establish our plans for today. His promises should shape our priorities and sustain our spirits. Billy Graham said, “When the ‘evil day’ comes, we do not have to be dependent upon the circumstances around us, but rather on the resources of God.”
Christians are not normal people. They are extraordinary people living with supernatural power in a downward-spiraling world. We are on a mission to help others and to spread gospel hope. There’s a glorious work for you to do.
We can no longer operate with confusion or complacency. The last days are accelerating, and to me it’s exhilarating. Let’s stand as never before with biblical, Spirit-inspired determination, committed to serve Christ with all our hearts, whether by life or by death.

This I know with all my mind and believe with all my heart: time is short. Our Lord’s words are unflagging and unfailing. They must shape our priorities and energize our plans. As we study our Lord’s great sermon, every word of it underscores our mission. Every syllable establishes our glorious priorities as we await His impending return—that blessed hope—and as we say, Amen! Even so, come Lord Jesus!"

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22

Prayer & Praise -

I've said it before but I'll say it again- I am soooooooo THANKFUL for God shifting us into this new rental home.  God has provide so faithfully to provide things we need - refrigerator, 2 couches, blinds for doors & windows, buffet, 3 ceiling fans, carpet for the garage.... wow!!!

Pray for Ken's back please- He is doing some better but still is hurting when he sits down.  He pulled a muscle a couple weeks ago working.   Pray for endurance for him.

Pray for me please - sleep & pain.   Someday I will share of God's goodness of healing but until that time, I need the ability to endure.

Pray for provision please- we are still navigating double rent and utilities.  Doing all we can to keep costs down so no surprises (hopefully).   Groceries here are ridiculous.  We try to make it up to Missoula (an hour away) to shop at Winco where its much more affordable but with a gas over $4 here - we have to have a pretty big list to make it worth the trip.  Pray for my Thrive Life business to grow and more opportunity to share it.  michelecole.thrivelife.com

Please pray for my neighbors - two opportunities so far to share the gospel.  Pray it's received!

Please let me know how I can pray for you.  I am thankful for those who reach out with prayer requests.

Hugs, love and prayers.

What the Enemy Meant for Harm, God Turned for GOOD!

God is good!  All the time!  And all the time, God is GOOD!

As I mentioned in the last blog, we signed the lease and a new chapter has begun.   We are officially moved in.  We were able to do the entire apartment in one weekend and we emptied our storage unit one night last week.  We had our walk through and praise God, they returned the deposit money back.   That chapter is OVER!!   I have been praying and seeking the Lord earnestly as to what caused our previous landlords to treat us the way they did.  I have no revelation.  The only comfort I get from the Lord is that what the enemy meant for harm to us, He turned for good!  And He did.  The house we are in, though not perfect is spacious.  We have lots of storage space, we have a room we will make into a guest room at some point and we have a big enough living room to accommodate our home group (and parking is even better).  I am so thankful!!   God has been so gracious to us this past week.  We have a friend who offered up a buffet cabinet which we are now using in our dining room to host the coffee station for our home group.  I have another lovely friend who is giving us her beautiful mahogany dining room table and 6 chairs (with 3 leaves so it can seat 15) and she is going to refabric the chairs to our decor at her own expense.  Such a gift.   We had a couple of unexpected checks come in the mail and so now we can cover our October rent.  WE are so THANKFUL!!!   God is faithful to meet our every need.  I can't say it's easy to walk in faith and trust God for provision again.....but He is showing me I can.

We have met several of our new neighbors. They are all super nice and they seem to look after each other.  That is awesome.  One is a hoarder.  I was told that things don't leave her but people do and that's why.  So sad.  I am praying for a ministry opportunity there.   We have an 80 year old lady who lives on the back of our property = her apartment is attached to our detached garage.  She has cancer and is a Jehovah Witness.  I believe God placed us right in the middle of all this so we can be a bright light and bring healing and hope.  I'm looking forward to getting to know them and sharing God's love!

Another blessing that came this week was from Ken's boss.  He brought us 25# of beef from his own raised cattle. Delicious!  And he agreed to Ken taking the time off for us to go to Cancun in November.  I won that trip - all inclusive, all expense paid for two.  We are excited as we have not had a tropical vacation since 2011.  I felt like when I won the trip, the Lord said this was His gift to us.  I am so THANKFUL!

I just want to thank you - those who pray for us consistently.  That blesses me more than words can express.  I don't always see what God is doing but behind the scenes He is obviously working.  So thank you for nudging Him with your prayers.   Thank you for those who reach out with texts or emails.  That is so awesome to be on the receiving end knowing that God placed us on your heart.  Thank you for

listening and being obedient.

I would like to ask for prayer for a few things.

1.  I have quite a few friends dealing with some serious health issues.  I've been praying for them for a long time.  I don't understand why God hasn't healed them.  One person was sent home to die within days over a year ago.  And she is still living and is in good spirits, but she suffers greatly.  Another has battled cancer and won and now it's back again.  There are too many to list but if you wouldn't mind just coming into agreement for complete divine healing, that would be awesome.

2.  For an increase in income/provision.  I would love to see my Thrive Life business grow.  It is, but slower than I would like.  I need to find a way to meet more people.   I do have a friend who is going to have a Tasting Party and invite her friends.  That is the best way for me.  So, if you would like to host a tasting party, let me know.  Even if we are not in the same town, I can still do this with you.  This is a great way to earn free food and begin your food pantry for emergencies or everyday easy meal prep.  michelecole.thrivelife.com.

3.  For continued healing.  I do believe God is healing me.  I am having less pain (most of the time). I still am restricted in my knee and have horrible feet pain from plantar fasciitis.    I have been doing aquatic classes for a month or so and I believe that is helping some.  I am also getting 6 hours of sleep most nights.  That is good for me.  I would like more.  Pray for continued motivation to get up at 6am and head to the pool.

4.  Prayer for ministry opportunities with our neighborhood.  Prayers for those God will bring to our home group that we can minister too.

Please let me know how I can pray for you.  I am thankful for those who reach out with prayer requests.

Hugs, love and prayers.

New Chapter Begins!!!

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

Whew!!!  A new chapter in our lives begins!!  We signed our new lease last night.  I feel a weight has already lifted!!   We are 99.9% packed and will begin moving things in tonight - and tomorrow will be our big moving day!  Thankful as we have I think 6 men to help us and several women, so it should go pretty quick.  I am so thankful for the friends who have come alongside us to help with the packing and even the beginning of cleaning the cabinets and drawers.  Many hands make things lighter.  So thankful.   I am thankful for the new home, the previous tenants cleaned the house amazingly.  The new landlord seems to be a super flexible landlord accommodating a few things.  He will be an absent landlord as he travels overseas 6 months of the year, but he says, if anything needs to get done, just do it and deduct from rent.  There are a few quirks that we will have to work through but nothing too daunting.   The only thing a little overwhelming is the rent being doubled. The landlord could get $2500 for it - but is only charging us $1500 plus utilities.  To me spending that much money on a rental is more than I care too.  I would prefer to use it for giving into the Kingdom... but God's ways are not ours.  He seems to keep reminding me of that.  LOL!!!

Here's a picture of the outside of our new rental home.  It's 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car detached garage and a bonus room that's attached to the garage.  It has plenty of space for parking out front and on the left side of it which will be super for our home group.     Definitely an upgrade!

The home group we have is multiplying fast.  We may need God to supernaturally expand this home for us.  Lol!!

Thank you to those who have prayed for us!!  Please continue to pray for provision and for an increase in income!   Please pray for favor with our existing landlord with the walk thru so we can get our earned deposit back.  God is faithful and I know He will provide!  He always has!!

Please let me know how I can pray for you - and how I can celebrate God's goodness with you!

Hugs, love and prayers.

Leap of Faith - Anti-climatic!

The Bible tells us that we are to walk by faith and not by sight.  2 Corinthians 5:7

Transparency alert..........

I am thankful for the ONLY open door God has provided with our housing situation.  In just 10 days we will moving into a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with extra large bonus room and 2 car detached garage....and a large fenced yard.  That is double the space we have now.  I am thankful for the new landlord who has said he will not raise rents.  (That's what our existing landlord said too).  The new one has been easy to work with so far and quite flexible.  The rent and utilities are DOUBLE what we pay now and unless God opens doors of income, we are upside down big time.  That is not a comfortable place to be.  However, this is the ONLY choice we have...  and we have to trust that God is leading us this direction.  Oh - did I tell you we have a sexual predator right across the street from this new place?

He promises to meet all of our needs.  Phil 4:19.   We have to have $3750 by 8/20.   We have just a small amount right now.  We have an open insurance claim for hail damage we had while in KC.  We are awaiting reply to see if we can just not repair our car and take the cash?   It's been a month with no response yet with continued follow up.

Ken feels like we are stepping backwards.  It's obvious he's frustrated about this.  He made the comment that it seems that "professing Christians" have caused us the most angst, stress & hurt in our lives!    I am just confused.  Why did God tell me in April, He was taking my Facebook income away and then did when that would pay our new rent.   I'm confused because for the past two years, we finally made enough income that we could pay our bills and enjoy a little on the side.  We have lived by faith financially since 2005.  He has always been faithful to provide in different ways, but the toll it takes on you when you have to be utterly dependent on Him to pay bills or buy groceries is real.  I know that's part of our walk and it's confusing for others too.   We have to continue to believe He will take care of us.  This whole move is anti-climatic.  No excitement, no motivation other than we have to get out of dodge!

I am struggling with feelings of anger and frustration at our existing landlords.  I was talking with someone in our home group and she said she was going through the same emotions towards them too.  The tension around here (they live next door) is thick.  They avoid us, run into their home when we come out and passive aggressive behavior.  It is just unreal.  We have no idea what changed in their minds or hearts - but it sure seems demonic. The only communication we have with them is through their attorney.   I go back and forth - praying for them  and then having thoughts of ill will.  I have to continuously forgive them.  Now I truly know what Joseph felt when he was sent to jail for something he didn't even do.   Thankful we aren't going to jail...but the prison of added financial stress is almost as bad.

On the brighter side - we are almost 1/2 packed.  I've had a few friends come to help me during the day. Most of the rest can't be done until we decide to eat off paper plates and not cook.  LOL.   We also have 2 trucks and trailers along with a few men to help with the move.  That will help as we won't have to rent a Uhaul.

I do see God's hand in all this.  Really - we've been praying for God to bring us into a bigger place to accommodate all that He is having us do!  That I'm thankful for!  It truly is a miracle that this house for the price became available and how it came to our attention was an answer to prayer.  We didn't have to qualify our income.  He didn't call our existing landlord because who know what they would have said about us.  He only checked our credit and background which of course we passed with flying colors!  The location (though in town) is convenient.   And yet, He still has 8 days before we sign the lease.... and would love to see BREAKTHROUGH in stepping into DESTINY - the RETREAT property.   ??? That would be our prayer still........

I am thankful for the many of you who reach out to us and share that you are praying for us!   It touches me deeply.   I cry often in thanksgiving to God for you!

I am thankful that God promises a future and a hope!

I am thankful that He is faithful no matter what we are going though!

Please let me know how I can pray for you - and how I can celebrate God's goodness with you!

Hugs, love and prayers.

A Possibility! PRAYERS NEEDED PLEASE!

I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David;what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.  Isaiah 22:22

Today, I received a text from a local pastor I had reached out to about housing.  She told me about a rental that was coming available in just 2 weeks.  We have to be out in 3 weeks.  We went and looked at it.  It's definitely doable as far as space and location.  However, the rent and utility bills would be double what we pay now.  But it's a place we could be comfortable.   It's at least $1000 below what most are going for!

We need wisdom and provision to make this decision! We need $4000 just to sign a lease.  We need to make the decision quickly as there are so many people looking for a place to rent.  And yet, we don't want to get ahead of God and make a rash decision out of desperation.

There is NOTHING else that is available that we know of YET.

Would you please be in prayer for us and if the Lord would show you anything that would help us, please share.

Please pray that God would open doors to increase my Thrive income.  This is what both Ken and I really feel God is leading me to do.  And having this house we would have the space and ability to host tasting parties!   Thrive is getting ready to launch across the United States & even worldwide all by 2024!  They have 7 new meals (2 available now) that are just add hot water & eat in 15 minutes.  No fillers.  We got to taste 6 of the 7 and all are good!  I am so impressed with this company - they are proactive, intentional and high integrity!  Simply the best.   And with continued food shortages looming - did you hear the government is paying farmers to NOT grow food.  We all need to have supply - 1- 2 years minimum is what they recommend.  michelecole.thrivelife.com

Please let me know how I can pray for you - and how I can celebrate God's goodness with you!
