Sink or Swim

Psalm 13: How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.
But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Have you ever felt so uncomfortable in your circumstances that you didn't know whether you should laugh or cry?  Do these same circumstances occasionally bring paralyzing gut wrenching fear?  What if you've done all you can to stand and yet you feel like you're going under.  Maybe you are drowning in your circumstances, wondering where God is in the midst.  Asking, will He ever show up and save the day?

I’m not soliciting sympathy as I write this.  I’m just sharing what I feel the Lord has put on my heart.  Often as Christians, we hear these amazing testimonies of what God has done for us, but we don’t always hear the in between part.  This is what this is, the in between, the wait, the transition, the growing and strengthening in the Lord part and sometimes, even the ugly part!

Has God given you a personal promise that has yet to be fulfilled?  He has promised me complete healing in my lifetime.  My health only seems to worsen or I improve in one area and other issues happen.  He’s promised to provide for us and meet our needs, but yet we can’t find jobs or income where He sent us.  He brings us to a new location with a vision that only He can make happen and yet we wait.  Nothing in the natural seems to be pointing towards anything good.

Truth be told, I’m confused, frustrated, scared to death and feel alone & discouraged.  God has stripped me/us of just about everything……..as the saying goes, when you are down to nothing, God is up to something.  Things could be worse and I don’t mean to sound ungrateful or lacking thanks to God….I am thankful for many many things in which I tell Him daily.

Proverbs 15:13 says, “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.”

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

We are weary.  We are ready for God to show up!  We look to Him as our only HOPE!  He is the source of everything.

Clinging to this word
Russell Walden
The Father says today that this day is a day of double witness. You have endured the test and the test is over – now comes the reward for a heart postured in faith before Me. In your patience you have possessed your soul therefore NOW is the recompense accorded to you even as it is to all those who rest their case in Me. This is the rest says the Father, and this is the rejoicing, that though all men forsake you and ignore your plea – I have not forsaken you and I have not ignored you. I am about to shake the situation, and bring the cry of your heart and the injustice of your situation to the forefront of those who have brought the gavel down to dismiss your claim. Get ready says the Father, for a reversal of fortune. Prepare for that good thing I am bringing about in your behalf. The lies that have been told will not stand. The truth of who I am in your situation will be made manifest. There has been deceit and bedevilment by those that have flaunted My name and attempted to steal from you what heaven’s court says you have the title deed to. Fear not therefore says the Father. Be not dismayed. Refuse to lay your hopes down or to hang the harps of your rejoicing on the willows of despondency. The long standing challenge is about to be ploughed under by My hand. I will show My hand mighty to chastise those who erred in attempting to abscond with your blessing. Are you ready to put it behind you? Now is that day!

Sink or swim!  Until next time…..

Prayer Requests

Please pray for my health - pain levels in hips, right knee, both feet, both legs & low back are unrelenting.  Besides the knee, I have no idea why they hurt.  So many other issues as well going on.  So ready for the promise of healing to come!

Please pray for daily provision as well as provision for the vision of the retreat property.  We had a great lunch with the owners and they are still very much willing to sell us the property and be a part of the design, development & building process.

Please pray for Ken - the work he does is much lifting and is taking a toll on him as well.  They have a/c there but the corporate office controls the temps and it's often quite hot.

Please pray for Ken too.... though I can't speak for him, I sense he is feeling discouraged and frustrated as well.

Mostly importantly, please pray that our faith doesn't fail.  We want so much to be in God's will and do what He's called us to do.....and yet we have critics and folks who don't understand the walk God has us on.  We really could use an Aaron & Hur.

Canyon, our dog is doing ok - somedays he eats and others he doesn't.  He still sleeps where Blazer use to at night.....His back legs are seemingly getting weaker & weaker....it hurts.

For more about the vision God has given us, scroll to the bottom of this post.

Bless YOU.  Thank you for caring for us, praying for us and standing with us!  If there is anything you need prayer for, please let us know.  We are happy to!!!
If you have been blessed by this ministry or feel led to support what God is doing through us - financially, below are a few options.  Your generosity and your prayer support is greatly appreciated and needed as we continue to walk in faith and God's calling.

Vision
God has given us a vision to build a retreat property along with ministry equipping center.
The retreat portion of our ministry is to provide a safe place for pastors, lay leaders & other ministry folks to come and be refreshed & encouraged through prophetic ministry (if wanted).  We will offer 30-50 private cabins with kitchens & full bathrooms, screened in porches and plenty of places to roam on the property to get quiet with the Lord.
We will offer other specialty retreats - marriage, healing, prophetic teaching & activating, health and wellness retreats and more.

The Lord has graced us with the desire to come alongside the Church - to bring healing, deliverance & freedom to new/newer believers.  We are not wanting to replace their church, but more help them be ready to serve in their church.
In our community building - we will have a 24/7 (eventually)  prayer room, healing & prophetic rooms and a place for community worship services for those on the property.

Our passion is to minister to a lost & hurting world.   To equip the saints to do the same and to be a blessing to our community and surrounding areas.  Our hopes are that we can pour out God's love in a mighty way to bring more and more into the Kingdom, get them discipled, called into their purpose & destiny and released to do God's business!!!!

Closed Doors!

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Have you ever asked God for something and not got it?  Have you prayed and prayed but the answer doesn't come?  Do you start to question yourself to see if maybe you're the reason for the unending delay?  Why the closed doors?

When you pray, are you praying His will?

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
1 John 5:14

When you pray, do you use the Word of God?

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11

Are you prayers being hindered?
Doubt, unforgiveness, selfish motives, disobedience, unconfessed sin & not abiding in the vine are a few.  But what if these don't apply?  What if you are believing, have forgiven, been praying according to God's heart for your life, obedient to whatever God asks, confessed all the sin you know of and are spending quality time with the Lord.  Then what???

You might ask; why the closed doors Lord?
You might ask; how much longer Lord?

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. Luke 18:1

That is the only answer.....continue to pray and do not lose heart or give up.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Praise Reports:

We are having lunch with the owners of the property next Monday (the property we are believing God for).  We feel God wants us to continue to build this relationship.

We have met another couple who God moved here about 2.5 years ago.... similar things we are hearing from the Lord.  There are about 15 families we've met in the 2.5 years we've been here that are feeling led to build a place of refuge..... for various purposes, all moving from different areas of the country..... yes, to Eldo. Odd or God?

Prayer requests:

God is our only hope and only answer to our needs and desires!  Please pray that He will soon part the Red Seas once again!

We need wisdom on what to do!  We cannot survive financially here in Eldo.  We don't feel like we are suppose to move away. We still very much believe we were sent here by the Lord......and are called to Sonlit Fields.  If we leave, we feel like we would be giving up on God and will have failed Him in our faith.  We want very much to be in the center of His will.  Please pray for wisdom, clarity & direction.

I have been trying to find a few small businesses to do Social Media Management with.  Does your business or ministry need a boost? Would you like to see more interaction with clients? Do you need more exposure with the public? Want an affordable solution?

I have been trying to increase my Thrive Life Foods business - but no open doors at this time.
https://michelecole.thrivelife.com

I have applied for work at all the banks & grocery store here in Eldo - no one is hiring.

I have posted Ken's truck for sale - as that would give us a few extra months provision but no one has nibbled.  Another door closed, it appears.  We really don't want to sell this truck, but offering it up if this is God's provision for us!

My health is not good - the headaches are milder again (praise God), however, I'm still struggling with right knee pain and loss of range of motion, low back pain & now excruciating hip pain. I cannot stand for more than a few minutes without exacerbating the pain.  I cannot even sit in our normal chairs for long.  I hurt but am most comfortable with my leg up.  I am also sensing my adrenals are taking a hit with fatigue & brain fog.  I'm sure the stress of our finances & my health is the culprit.   Please pray for complete healing that God has promised!  I am so thankful for all of you who are so faithful to pray!!!!!

I more than Ken is still grieving having to put Blazer down last week....and seeing Canyon declining doesn't help.  Canyon is not eating much and his hips & hind legs are definitely showing much weakness.

Please pray for Ken as his job at Dollar General is hard on him physically.

Please pray that our faith won't fail and we won't stay discouraged....that we will continue to give thanks for all the many blessings God does give us...especially friends who check in on us.

Letting Go is Difficult

For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

Is there a time in your life when you felt like everything was spinning out of control? Has one thing after another been taken away from you and you're now just waiting for the other shoe to drop?

Letting go is difficult......
Wednesday morning, in my quiet time, I felt the Lord told me that July was going to be a whirlwind month.  I sensed that there was going to be some fast changes maybe relating to my health - a miracle of healing, or even a miracle of provision so we could step into the destiny God is calling us too.  And maybe those things are still coming.......

But instead, that same Wednesday night, our dog Blazer who was turning 13 this month, had sudden heart failure and we had to put him down.  That day, he was playful and hippy hop as Ken called him, bouncing around wanting treats.  By 8pm, I noticed that he was breathing fast.  I had noticed this for the past few weeks but chalked it up to the heat.  But that night was different.  Ken
noticed it too and he went over to him and felt his heart beat.  It was racing and it put off some kind of vibration.  We also noticed that he would take a breath in and his stomach would go in, then he would let out a moan.  We called our local vet not knowing if they did after hour calls.  By 9pm the vet called and we were on our way into have Blazer checked out.  Blazer couldn't even stand up.  Ken had to carry him to the car and the sound he made when Ken picked him up was painful and piercing.  The vet said his heart was beating way too fast and had an irregular heart beat.  He also thought maybe a mass or some bleeding from his spleen due to the moans he would make touching him in the abdomen.  The vet said he was definitely in serious pain and we had two options... 1. take him to KC to the emergency vet and see if there was anything they could do or 2. put him down as he was 13 years old and even if the emergency vet could do something, how long would that really prolong his life.  (His breed life expectancy is 10-12 years).

Our hearts were breaking.  Ken and I felt we had no real choice.  We didn't have the financial resources to take him to KC.....and we did not want to see him suffer any longer.  Putting a dog down is hard as it is, but putting a dog down suddenly - only 1 hour of knowing anything was wrong with him, is traumatic.  Our dogs are family to us.  This is the 4th dog we've had to put down in the past 30 years.  It never gets easier.

Canyon, our other dog, is 15 years old. (His breed life expectancy is 10-12 years).  He has been experiencing muscle atrophy in his hind legs and is doing ok, but not great.  He is definitely missing Blazer and is constantly looking for him.  We thought he would be the first of the two to go.  This is where the fear of the other shoe dropping comes in.

I am experiencing much fear.... fear of Canyon's death....fear of being alone (no dog).  We've had a dog our entire married life.  Fear of maybe God taking Ken.  I know these are irrational and not from God, but they are real.  To non dog lovers, you're probably thinking, get over it. But to dog lovers, I think you understand what I'm feeling.

Years ago, I sensed God was not wanting us to have any other dogs after these two (at least for a while)....maybe because He has told us we will be going back to Peru, maybe because it would be too much getting the retreat property built, or maybe something entirely different.  Gods thought are not my thoughts.

With all the tragedies happening in America and around the world, the increase in terrorism and violence, Sonlit Fields is needed more than ever.  We sense an urgency and yet cannot do anything unless God makes it happen and yet we want His will and His timing and more than ever His Presence.

I know we will get through this and grieving won't last forever......but it is extra hard this time.  Would you please pray for us...for me....for the fear of dread to be gone?
Would you please pray for provision for our daily needs?
Would you please pray for provision for the vision of Sonlit Fields?
Would you please pray for my total and complete healing God has promised?

For all of you who have posted on Facebook, called, texted or messaged us regarding Blazer, thank you!   It means a lot to us.  We are so thankful for your ongoing friendship.

3 Lessons We Can Learn from Noah!

Has God asked you to do something that seems illogical?  Has He called you to believe for the impossible?  Is there a promise He is asking you to trust Him for?  Are there people around you that are critical or even walking away from your relationship because of the journey God has you on??

How do you think Noah felt when God asked him to build an arc?  Do you think he questioned God asking what are floodwaters?  Remember, Noah hadn't see a drop of rain that we can tell from the Bible?  Do you think the people around him, his family, friends and just those in the neighborhood thought he was crazy, maybe mentally incompetent.  Do you think he was laughed at and scoffed?  Do you think he got discouraged or frustrated?  And oh, the wait?  It took him a 100 years to build the ark. We don't even live that long these days.  Can you imagine how many times the enemy would of spoke lies to bring him into doubt & fear? Do you wonder if he had to trust God for the provision of supplies and even people to help him build it?  Let's look at a portion of his story now.

Noah and the Flood
Genesis 6:9-7: 6.  v9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress[c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.[d] 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit[e] high all around.[f] Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

7 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”
And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth

All I can say is wow to this story!  What a great man of faith.  His wife and children though it was probably hard on them, also had to have great faith.  More importantly, God had faith in them.  God saw that Noah was upright and faithful to serve His Lord and so He called Noah to this walk.  How many of you know that walking with Jesus isn't always a walk in the park?  Quite the opposite at times.

The Lord has been preparing us and has called us to build a retreat property (entire vision below) here in El Dorado Springs, MO.  We want to provide a place for pastors, lay ministers and others to come and get refreshed and spend some quality, intimate time with Jesus.  We are passionate about equipping others to hear God's voice and walk in the gifts to bring healing and salvation to those who are lost and hurting.  There are so many people who need Jesus in this world and we believe utilizing the prophetic, we can reach many.
...and how good is a timely word! Proverbs 15:23b NIV
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Proverbs 25:1l ESV

Ken and I love to spend time with the Lord and ask Him what's on His heart and who does He want to touch today.   He will give us what we call "clues" or specific places, what they are wearing and how to pray for them and then we go....and we show up with this timely word and the Lord does a mighty work.  We have led people to the Lord this way, they were ripe for the harvest and God sent us to bring that harvest in. Others, we have prayed for healing and saw instant miraculous results.  Some were just encouraged in where they were in that moment.  It is life giving to us and to them.  This is what we were made for and what we are called to do.  This is a link to a utube video documentary https://youtu.be/zka4DUYeJ5g  that really nails what we enjoy doing on the head.  If you have time to watch it, it's a little over an hour.  Amazing God stories!!!

There are 3 main lessons we can learn from Noah.
1.  We need to stay faithful to God.  Noah walked faithfully with God.  This doesn't mean perfection. It means that we are to be committed to Him and His Word.  You may have scoffers and critics and you may even lose a few relationships along the way.  Be thankful, because that means you are on the right path.  Not everyone is going to understand the call God gives you.  Not everyone will be able to walk in faith alongside you.  Often, you will walk through periods alone!!  Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus! When you get discouraged, shake it off, get in the Word and strengthen yourself in the Lord. He will refresh you and sustain you.
2.  Whatever He has asked you to do, do it! Do all you can and He will do His part.  About a year after we moved here, our little Opera House Theater was showing Field of Dreams.  The Lord said go watch the movie and look at it with spiritual eyes.  So many spiritual lessons in there, but mostly it was God leading Ray (the main character). Every step he took in obedience, the Lord revealed the next step and so on until the day it was built and that is when the people came.  Recently, a lady who hosts and leads our Tuesday Bible Study Group had a vision for me that was quite encouraging.  It spoke to me in such a way, that I know God's timing is perfect.  We want things now and God says, I have things to line up first.  Just like in the movie, it took time and it took a few steps that Ray wasn't planning  on.  But in the end, it was glorious.   And just like Noah, his obedience, despite the critics and discouragement paid off.  Him and his family were spared.
"If you build it, they will come".
 Field of Dreams Movie
3. Noah did everything the Lord had commanded Him.  Not only was he obedient building an arc and to the specifications the Lord described, He was obedient to follow God's commands.  God calls each and every one of us to be doers of the Word of God. Unfortunately there are many status quo Christians or as the bible calls them, lukewarm Christians who hear the Word or read the Word but don't act on it.
James 2:14-20  v14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. 18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” 19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God.[a] Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?

Has God called you to do something illogical?  Are you believing for the impossible?

Take Noah's example or even read through Hebrews 11 to encourage you and strengthen you.

I included some of the pictures we have taken from the property we are praying and believing God for.  Our hope and prayer is that God will fund the entire vision (estimated 10+million) up front as that will make things much easier with the State of MO, engineers, builders, etc..... but if needs to be in stages, the first million would allow us to buy the main property, hold a meeting with all the people in building and development stages involved and get the engineer hired to design the waste water system to be approved by State of MO.  And we would be able to get some other things in place with the home we would live in.  If you would like more information, please contact us.

Prayer Requests:
1.  Please pray for daily provision... as you know Ken is part time at Dollar General at minimum wage.  Nothing else to be had around here.   I am doing some part time Thrive Food sales but that is just a teeny bit of income.  https://michelecole.thrivelife.com
2. Please pray for my health - specifically range of motion in right knee. I cannot bend it much at all.  And for my lower back where the steroids caused degenerative disc issues.  And for continued focus and mental energy so I can write these books God is asking of me. I am getting a few pages done every other day or so.

I'm a consultant with Thrive Life Foods - 25 year food storage.  I am happy to help you get a long term food pantry started.   If you are interested in more information, please contact me or visit my website at https://michelecole.thrivelife.com.
