What does a marriage vow and a disciple of Christ have in common?

What does a marriage vow and a disciple of Christ have in common?

Have you ever experienced a crisis in your life?  Maybe the death of a loved one?  A loss of a job?  Loss of a child?  Was there someone there for you that brought you comfort, offered up prayers, maybe even provided meals for you?  How did that make you feel?  Did you feel loved and cared for?

I always love to see how the body of Christ (and even non-believers) step up when crisis hits someone they know.

Today, I want to talk to you about the person or family that seems to be in a long long battle.  Maybe someone dealing with a terminal illness, or chronic pain with no relief in sight.  Maybe it's someone facing persecution because of their faith?  What are you to do?  Do you have any responsibility in this?  Are you to pray for them?  Are you to provide a meal?  Are you to offer up whatever they need?  And if so, for how long?

The Spirit put two main things on my heart regarding this.  One is the marriage vow and another a Scripture.  Have you ever looked at the marriage vow and let the words sink in?

I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part

God calls us His Bride.  If we are the bride of Christ?  Wouldn't this "vow" apply to how we respond to fellow believers?  Are we to love God and love others - for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, from the day we invite Jesus into our heart, until He takes us home?

Here's what the Bible says about that:

Therefore you must immediately put on, as chosen and beloved saints of God, hearts, inner thoughts of compassion, generosity, humility, gentleness, patience, bearing with one another and forgiving each other... and upon all of these, love, which is the bond of perfection.   (Emphasis mine)  Colossians 3:12-13, 14 One New Man Bible

The Amplified Bible says it even better:  Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]  Be gentle and forbearing with one another...  And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony]  (Emphasis mine)

The marriage vow is about two people, man and woman making a covenant, a promise, a commitment to love each other until death do they part.  The disciple, a believer makes a covenant with God, a promise to love Him and is committed to learning and growing into maturity, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Eph 4:13).   In return, God makes covenant with us that He will never leave us or forsake us.  He will guide us and direct us in the way we should go.  What does a marriage vow and a disciple of Christ have in common:   "Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."  John 13:35

God wired us all with a deep rooted need to be loved and to love, to be known and to know.  There are many people hurting right now who need to know that God still cares about them.  They need to feel loved and not rejected and most of all not judged.  That just means, please don't be like Job's friends who assumed his suffering was due to sin.

Who do you know that is going through some rough times?  Have you reached out to them lately?  Ask the Lord to show you who you can come alongside and then do whatever He asks of you! When hard times come to someone you know, will you walk every step of the way with them?  Will you be a faithful disciple of Christ.  Will you be a Bride that takes your marriage vows seriously!

We covet your prayers - prayers for endurance, healing, provision, God's love to overtake us and however else the Lord leads.

Friday 8/31 - we will be hosting a Shelf Reliance Food Tasting Show - email me for time and details michele@wantinsight.com      http://kerryblack.shelfreliance.com.  Check out the website.  Great tasting, economical 25 year shelf life food.  Come check it out if you are interested in learning more.  Call (913)980-2059  Kerry Black if you want to order before the show.

Three Simple Words That Can Transform Your Life!

3 simple words that can transform your life!

Do you deal with chronic pain or health issues?  Do you have a marriage or a relationship that challenges your spiritual walk?  Maybe you have been in bondage to debt and never seem to be able to keep your head above water?  Or maybe it's been a little of all of these.

How often have you read a Scripture verse over and over or heard it spoken to you, yet it seems lifeless...it doesn't seem to have any meaning to you?  Have you ever wondered why others use that same verse and can stand on the promise God speaks through it?  I've often asked that question.  The Word says it's living and active so why not every time we read it, does it not comfort us?

What I have learned over the years is that it's when you need it most, that is when the Holy Spirit breathes on a particular verse and it comes to life in your heart and begins to permeate every fiber of your being.  That's when it brings the hope of promise and can transform your life.

I don't know about you but I can tell you my life has been nothing but challenging in just about every way.  I've experienced physical, emotional, sexual abuse and even spiritual abuse.  I've dealt with multiple chronic illnesses and chronic pain for 27+ years.  Through these circumstances, I learned at a very early age that it is almost impossible to trust anyone.  I have formed judgements about people, mostly myself and have come to expect that good won't come to me.  I believed that I must of done something to deserve all this. I turned all these bad things inward and blamed myself.  But the worst thing is, is that my heart became hardened to receive God's love and the love of others.

For years, I have been walking with the Lord and meditating on His Word - "trying" to renew my mind but yet my heart wouldn't believe.  I kept praying, repenting and seeking God.  I prayed often, I believe, but help me with my unbelief.

Have you heard the song by Jesus Culture - Your Love Never Fails - You can listen to it by clicking this link.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_2qG22SPwU but hit your back browser once done to return here.  In the bridge part of the song it says - "You make all things work together for my good".   This little jingle has been constant in my head.

The Lord has had me meditate on Romans 8:28-39.  I've been reading the Amplified version:  (emphasis mine in bold).  These are verses I have read a million times (well, maybe not that many) but up until now, they had no life.

We are assured and know that [[a]God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
29 For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was [b]aware and[c]loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.
30 And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified (acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself). And those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being].
31 What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]
32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely andgraciously give us all [other] things?
33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?]
34 Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?
35 Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?
36 Even as it is written, For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we are regarded and counted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things[e]impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,
39 Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I asked the Lord many times why can't I truly receive your love? Why can't I believe You have good for me?  What do I have to do in order to get my healing?  Is there something I am missing?  And He said - My timing, for My Glory!

This is the Scripture He gave me John 9:3......
Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.

The Lord has been coming to me in visions and dreams answering my prayers and the cry of my heart.  Healing is coming to my heart....and I believe my physical body as well!

Ezekial 36:26
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Praise the name of Jesus Christ!

Three Simple Words That Can Transform Your Life!

If you are going through something and have gone as far as you know how to go, continue to
1. stand,
2. hope and trust God for His perfect timing.  He is for you.  Persevere in prayer and
3. believe that one day soon, the Truth will set you free!  And remember,  we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.  (Rom 8:28)

A Shift Is Coming - A New Normal? A few things you can do to make a difference!

(If you didn't read the last post from Sunday, please scroll down-very interesting)

A shift is coming... will there be a new normal?

For the past several years, anyone who watches the news or is in tune to God's voice, realizes we are in perilous times.  Our economy is on the verge of collapse, our government is doing some crazy things and well life as we know it is changing.  Our freedoms are being stripped away little by little, in reality they have been stripped a lot farther than you even know.

The Lord has been revealing to me and countless others for years that things are changing in America.  Life as we know it, is changing and will be, beyond our recognition.  We might just have to adjust to a new normal?   1 Cor 13:9 says we know in part and we prophesy in part.  I cannot tell you exactly what is coming, but the Lord spoke to me that a "shift" is coming to the earth, more specifically to America.  I believe He told me that things are going to happen suddenly, one thing after another.  My sense is things are happening soon.  I heard the song "People Get Ready" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sc1z9arhe0.  This song kept playing over and over in my head.  Now I don't know or think that Jesus is coming back now (based on the song), I just sensed it was a play on words that we are too take God's warnings serious.   He also said that there are many who are in denial and many will be caught off guard.  Some things will be scary but take heart, He says.  God has raised up people who "are" prepared.  For those who are, you will reap a great harvest.  He says "you are ready".  He says call forth those things that are not as though they are and they will come into being (Rom 4:17).  Not name it claim it kind of calling forth but call forth those things in which He has personally promised you!  Stand on them, believe and you will receive!

The Lord further said the enemy cannot steal from us (or this country) any longer but first we must draw a line in the sand.  We have to decide which side we are on.  God vs Devil.  Approximately 80% of America says they are "Christians."  Who are they fooling?  Not God!  We cannot say we follow Christ and continue to follow the way and values of the world.  We are to be set apart!  The things we say, the things we do, the way we dress, the way we act are to be different then the world!   1 Peter 1:16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."   We have been desensitized to holy living!  Our lives should be a living sacrifice to the one true God of Jesus Christ and to live for Him and serving others!  Instead, we have chosen to live life for ourselves, our children, our desires!  The time is now to choose God vs Devil!  Which side are you on?

I've been meditating in Isaiah 54 for a week or so and the Holy Spirit highlighted some key verses that apply to the times coming!  Verse 9-10 Just as I swore in the time of Noah that I would never again let a flood cover the earth, so now I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you.  We need to understand that what is coming is NOT God's judgement on us!  It may be consequences for the sins we have committed individually and as a nation but know that you know it is NOT God's judgement.   God is not angry at us - He just cannot tolerate sin!  We can humble ourselves before the Lord and ask God to reveal how we need to repent and then do it!  Repent means turn and run the other way! When we all choose to do this, God will heal our land - 2 Chron 7:14.

Verse 10 For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain.  My covenant of blessing will never be broken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.   We must remember that nothing we can do or say will ever separate us from the love of God!  His love is everlasting and He is faithful.  He has a covenant on us and this nation of blessing!  We must do our part so He can fulfill His part!  Sin separates us!!!

So, what can you do?

First, we need to know and believe that GOD IS IN CONTROL.  He is on the throne and nothing that happens doesn't get by Him.   Matthew 6:33 Seek ye the Kingdom of God first and His righteousness and all things will be added unto you.

Next, we need to seek His face and repent for the part we have played in our nations chaos!
(debt, greed, selfish ambitions, lusts of the flesh, worldly ways and values - keeping up with the Jones's, etc) 2 Chronicles  7:14

Third, we need to choose to spend each day in the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to change our behaviors and actions.  Rom 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.   You've heard the saying GIGO - Garbage In, Garbage Out!  Fill your mind on things that are good and pleasing to the Lord!

Last but definitely not least - we need to submit, surrender and sacrifice our every day lives to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We must serve Him and love others!   This is the greatest commandment of all!

 Luke 10:27
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself.
I end with a couple quotes!

“By changing nothing, nothing changes.” -Tony Robbins

“The best thing you can do is the right thing; the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing; the worst thing you can do is nothing.” -Theodore Roosevelt
