Have mercy on us and on the whole world... an urgent call to prayer and change!
How many of you know that "bad news" sells? Whenever we hear of something bad that happens, like 9/11, the stock market dropping or the most recent movie theater shooting, we eagerly search out more of the story. With internet and cell phones, we can sometimes get the event live, even before tv, newspapers and radio can get on the scene. Bad news always makes front page and the big headlines.
Bad news isn't always bad news! What do I mean by that? Sometimes "bad news" reaching the public quickly can be good. It can help people reach safety (like early warnings on a tornado or hurricane) and it can also inform people so they can prepare in advance. Sometimes bad news can actually be good news. It's all in what you do with it.
Some of you know that Ken and I do not watch tv and haven't for over 10 years. Besides a post here and there on Facebook or if someone mentions something, we are not tuned in to what is happening day to day in the world. We are not opposed to it, but we choose to not watch the "bad news".
Over the past few weeks the Lord has been showing Ken and I some pretty serious things about things to come. To be honest with you, we've been really seeking God in whether or not He wanted us to share these or not but feel that yesterday we got confirmation to do so. What we want to say is that we are NOT trying to create hype or stir fear in folks. We are not trying to come off as the bearer of bad news but only share something that God has entrusted us to steward.
Several weeks ago, Ken was looking at the radar map over the United States. It was in animation as the severe weather storms over many parts of the country were swirling around. When the animation stopped, the radar showed a picture of a skull. It looked completely demonic. Ken believed the Lord showed him this so that we could intercede for our country. What we didn't know was that God would reveal much more.
A couple weeks ago, I was lying in bed in the early hours not able to sleep. I was restless. The Lord spoke to me, not in an audible voice but the voice was clear and precise. I heard "seismic, cyclical and epic". I then immediately went into a vision and saw earthquakes happening, one right after another and very specifically where. Then I saw what I can only describe as "every" weather pattern begin to happen. I saw tornadoes. I saw flooding. I saw worsening droughts. I saw land hurricanes. I saw tsunamis and massive hurricanes. I heard Him speak - stay home, stay close to home. When I came out of the vision, I asked the Lord what this meant? I asked Him when? I sensed He said, this has already started. It's in motion. In my spirit, then I heard what I would call a sonic boom. I can't describe what else was going on other than to say that I knew there was a major shift in the earth, like beneath the earth's surface.
When I looked up the words to get a better understanding of what God might be saying, this is what I saw: seismic of course means earthquake activity, cyclical means something that happens periodically or on a regular basis and epic means history making. The Lord showed me that we would see weather related storms that were not typical, but history making.
The other day we were outside and we had our ipod listening to some music. Several songs had played and then I noticed that a song seemed to be playing again and then again and then again. I noticed a shift in the wind at that moment and had a chill go up my spine. I suddenly noticed the words in the song "in atonement for our sins, have mercy on us and on the whole world." I said to Ken, I think God is wanting to get our attention and so for the next several minutes we stopped and prayed for our country and the whole world. This week we were told by Ken's parents that their Catholic Church in Gardner, KS recently changed names from Sacred Heart to Divine Mercy. They went on to tell us that their church and many catholic churches across the world pray this Divine Mercy prayer at 3:00pm everyday.

I was told and verified it via internet that in West Virgina they had made history with the recent land hurricane (Derecho) that caused over 1 million people to be without power. In Poland, freak tornadoes are happening, in England heavy rains and flooding. It seems as if we have had many early warning signs.. and yet many are not prepared or are not changing their ways? Let me illustrate this another way.
Do you remember the story about the frog in the pot of boiling water?
Hey say that if you put a frog into a pot of boiling water,
it will leap out right away to escape the danger.
But, if you put a frog in a kettle that is filled with water that is cool and pleasant,
and then you gradually heat the kettle until it starts boiling,
the frog will not become aware of the threat until it is too late.
The frog's survival instincts are geared towards detecting sudden changes.
This is a story that is used to illustrate how people might get themselves into terrible trouble.
This parable is often used to illustrate how humans have to be careful to watch slowly changing trends in the environment, not just the sudden changes. Its a warning to keep us paying attention not just to obvious threats but to more slowly developing ones.What can you and I do about it?
- First, PRAY! And then PRAY some more! The power of prayer is effective. It can change the course. In my bible study notes, I noticed a footnote that was interesting... The words - "have mercy on me" is a Hebrew idiom which means asking for forgiveness. If we can pray and ask God for forgiveness for our selfish ways and ambitions, for choosing things of this world over Him and if you like, pray using the prayer from above - have mercy on us and on the whole world, we could see change. Scriptures tells us clearly - 2 Chronicles 7:14 - If My people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I shall hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land. Not just a few of us praying but ALL of us praying will make a difference!
- Second, we need to stop and give thanks to God each day and many times throughout the day for the blessings He has bestowed on us! Do you realize how much we have in this country? We are blessed beyond measure! We need to look to see how we can partner with God to help those less fortunate than us - whether that means traveling to another country or right here in your own backyard! It's God's money right? Let Him lead you! Look around, there are needs everywhere! 1 Thess 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
- Third, we need to take our focus off the "bad news" and focus on what God is doing. God is bigger than anything that has happened and will happen. He is our provider, our healer, our comforter, our protector, our refuge! Matt 6:33 Seek ye the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things will be added unto you.
If you don't have a relationship with Jesus Christ, now is the time to make the most important decision of your life. It's not too late. Invite Him into your heart and ask Him to wash you clean from sin. Believe that He died on the cross for you and was raised from the dead. He loves you and wants a relationship with YOU.
