What do you believe?

What do you believe?

When life gets hard, what do you believe?  When you lose a child or a loved one, do you believe God is still good?  When you or someone you love has chronic health issues that drain on energy and hope, do you believe God can still heal? When your finances hit rock bottom and you don't know where your next meal is coming from or how you will pay your bills, do you believe God will provide? Or when your marriage is on the rocks, will you believe God is the God of restoration?

Let's first understand what the word believe means.  A couple weeks ago, my pastor, Clint Sprague highlighted on this very word in relation to John 3:16 - For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him, will not perish but have eternal life.  Here's what he shared.  The english dictionary defines the word believe as to hold as an opinion, to credit something as true or to accept the word as evidence.  But the Bible use of the word comes from the greek word pisteuō (Strongs Concordance #4100) has a much different and concrete meaning.  It means, to have faith in, to trust in, to commit to, to be devoted to, to be loyal to and rely on.  It's about believing in a person, Jesus Christ and His Word.

The dictionary definition says you can believe in Jesus Christ, but you may not be born again.  Ouch?  It's not very definitive or absolute.  For some church goers, this may hit close to home.  I have heard many stories about folks who have gone to church most of their lives, but are not born again Christians.

If you or someone you know is going through tough times, it is important to "believe" that God is in control and that He is Sovereign.  His Word is true and completely trustworthy.  If He says He will provide, we must know that we know, that He will provide, Phil 4:19.  If He says, He will heal you, we must trust that His timing is perfect and He will heal us, Psalm 103.  We must "believe" in our hearts and confess His Word over our lives.  If you only believe the way much of the world believes, by the dictionary definition, your struggles may overtake you.  But, if you believe the way the Word of God tells us to believe, you will know that God is your only hope, your only source of peace and you will overcome.

When I first got saved, I had some folks whom I trusted, tell me that the promises in God's Word did not apply to every situation I may go through and that if I used the promises for healing say, then that would be "name it claim it" faith.  I was very impressionable back then and so for years, the enemy used those words to keep me in bondage from truly "believing" Gods Word was for me.  Often, I would pray and say Lord, I believe but help me with my unbelief.   Fortunately, He answers all prayer too, because the Holy Spirit revealed TRUTH to my spirit.

John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We have to make a choice, are we going to trust in man or trust in God?  Are we going to fear what man thinks when we stand on the promises of God?  Or are we going to fear only the Lord our God!

If you are going through some hard times and you need hope, turn to the Word of God.  Pick out Scriptures that speak into your situation.  Say them out loud over yourself over and over until God brings that truth into your heart.  Faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God!!!!! Don't give up until you receive what you need.  God loves you and He wants to bring refreshing, hope, peace, joy and love into every area of your life.

And always remember ALL OF HIS PROMISES ARE FOR YOU!!!!!

"It's important to not only know what you believe, but who do you believe!!"

Ken & I went on a "Treasurehunt" with a couple this past weekend and it was amazing, as usual!  We got to pray over 7 individuals bringing the love of Jesus into their hearts.  We also felt led to intercede over an individual (who we didn't see) but left a note on his car.  And interceded for a business, the Lord led us too.  These never look the same but one thing that is the same - is that God loves us so much, He sends complete strangers out to bless others and speak into their lives, a rhema word!
God is good!

Book Update

Several years ago, the Lord gave me an idea for a book and He is telling me now to get started on it.  That is why I am in need of your help!  The book is going to be a collection of stories from people just like you!  I mean from YOU, if you would be so kind to help.  I can't tell you too much yet because it's kind of a surprise.   THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE SENT YOUR STORIES!

If you would like to share something,  I have a few questions that I would like you to choose from (if you want to share more than one story, that is ok too).  Your story can be funny, serious, sad or an amazing testimony but it needs to apply to one of the questions I share below.  Just one condition - please be real, authentic and as detailed as possible so people will hear your heart, your pain or whatever emotion applies.
  1. What is one thing you prayed for that God answered for you the way you expected?
  2. If there was one thing you wish someone would of shared with you when you became a believer, what would it have been?  (This can be funny - like, I wish I knew not to pray for patience)
  3. What is one thing you wish you didn't pray for because the answer from God came in a way you didn't expect?
  4. Share a story of what took radical obedience or mountain moving faith to see you through?
In your response to me please include the following:
  • Your name and contact information (address, email and phone)
  • Permission to use your story and your name and/or initials if chosen to use.
  • List the question you answered at the top of your story.
  • Please email me your story at michele@wantinsight.com
  • Please put in the subject line of your email - "Book"
  • And if you have questions, please feel free to email me.
  • Deadline - as soon as possible.

If you have been blessed by this ministry or feel led to support us financially, here's how you can.  Your generosity and your prayer support is greatly appreciated and needed as we continue to walk in faith and God's calling.

Ken and I love to pray for folks who need a touch from the Lord - with words of encouragement, words of knowledge and a healing touch.  If you are someone in need, please let us know.  We also have a passion to activate and influence believers to walk in radical obedience to a fun and wonderful God!  There is just nothing like it!

If you are interested in Ken and I coming to minister to you, your small group or church, or go on a "treasurehunt" with us, please give us a call or email.  We would be delighted to!
