Walking by Faith, Not By Sight in the Transition - Part 4

In this blog:

Walking by Faith, Not by Sight - Part 4
About Us!

Imagine with me for a moment, that you were hiking on the edge of a steep mountainside and your foot started to slip and then suddenly for no reason you loose your eyesight.  Poof!  Everything goes black.  How do you think you would respond?  Would you experience fear, anxiety, worry or even stress?  But then, you hear the gentle voice of the Lord say, trust Me.  I'm here with you!  I won't let you fall.  I've got you My child.  You are safe in My hands.  Would those comments bring you peace or would you still be experiencing fear and anxiety?

As you know, we are going through a huge transition.  We feel the Lord has called us to move, move away from the Kansas City area.  The move from a big city to a small (3500 people) town is a huge leap of faith.  Though this move and the culture is going to be a shock (also exciting and new), that doesn't seem to be the pressing issue in our minds.  It is more the insurmountable odds we are up against in transitioning from here to there.  So many questions, no answers.  It's asking how God?  It's about faith - trusting God - believing in the unseen!  It's about walking by faith and not by sight!  It feels kind of like walking on that mountainside cliff, foot slipping and no way to see in any direction.

The Lord has been so faithful in speaking to us in different ways to strengthen us and encourage us and to confirm we are in His will.  To show us that He is guiding us and is with us!  I want to share some as I hope they will speak to your heart in your own circumstances.

Many of us are walking blindly or it feels like that.  God gave us a literal example.  When we were in Eldorado Springs, we woke up to dense fog.  It was so thick, we could NOT see past the front end of our vehicle.  You couldn't see stop lights or cars headlights or brakes until you were almost on top of them.  Visibility was probably less than 10-15 ft.  It was quite challenging and even frightening.  But as we prayed asking the Lord to be our eyes, to be our guide, peace came and we got to where we were going safely.

Earlier today a friend emailed me and said when she was praying for us, the Lord gave her this picture:
I saw you standing behind Jesus' right leg.  He had a tight grip on your hands and was leading you forward,
but you could not see around His leg (kind of like a protected child).   I asked the Father what it was about,
and He said that you were very close to Him and things were moving, but he was blocking you
from seeing forward. The important thing was your relationship and your proximity to Him.
You are not doing anything wrong, and He is very near.

A devotional from Jesus Today.
Trust Me here and now. You are in rigorous training-on an adventurous trail designed for you alone. This path is NOT of your choosing, but it is My way for you. I am doing things you can't understand. That is why I say, "Trust Me!"

The jungle is thick, and you cannot clearly see what is before you, behind you, or beside you. Cling to My hand as you follow this trail in shadowy darkness. Although you cannot see Me, My Presence with you is rock-solid reality. Find hope in Me, beloved, for I am taking care of you.

Focus on enjoying Me and all that I am to you-even though your circumstances SCREAM for resolution. Refuse to obsess about your problems and how you are going to fix them. Instead, affirm your trust in Me; wait hopefully in My Presence, and watch to see what I will do.

The Word I have been meditating on this week is found in Romans 4:20-21 Amp

No unbelief or distrust made him (Abraham) waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God.  Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promises.

A post I saw on Facebook, (I believe is a song).... I've turned into prayer - "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders.  Let me walk upon the waters, wherever You would call me.  Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander.  My faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior.

Graham Cooke writes "The fullness of god is His intention for you so He wants to give you the fullness now.  Christ is not in you in installments, He is in you in fullness now because in Jesus everything is available.  That means nothing is hidden.  It's all yours.  God is just going to teach you how to live in it, how to find it, but right from the start, He wants you to understand it's all yours as a gift."

From Derek Prince:
Psalm 105:41

He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert.    NIV

That’s a picture of God’s provision for His people, Israel. In the forty years of their wandering through the wilderness, a dry and barren land where there were no pools, no rivers, no streams, where water was almost non-existent.
God provided water for them in abundance. He provided it in a most unlikely way. He provided it out of a rock. When you look at a rock in the desert as I’ve looked at it countless times, it seems so hard, so unyielding, so little good could come out of it. But in the disguise of the rock we understand that God Himself was with the people.God Himself was the rock and out of Himself there came His provision for His people in abundance. It was important that Israel knew how to approach the rock. At one time Moses was commanded to strike it. At another time he was commanded to speak to it, and when he approached the rock in faith and obedience, out of that seemingly hard and unyielding rock there came abundance of water that flowed like a river in the desert. It’s often so in our lives, where in a time of barrenness when provision seems lacking, but God is there. He’s there in the form of a rock. He’s there in a form of something that seems hard and unyielding, something that we could complain about. But when we recognize God in it and approach him in faith and obedience, then the rock becomes the source of our provision.

God is good and He is faithful!  He is trustworthy!  He wants us to know that we know that He will meet our needs.  He is grace.  He is wisdom!  He is love!  He wants our hearts to be fully persuaded of this.  Clinging to His Word, meditating on it until it gets in deep, trusting Him with childlike faith when we can't see is what brings Him pleasure.  It's a choice we have to make sometimes moment by moment.  And often, we need the Body of Christ, brothers and sisters in the Lord standing with us, praying for us, sharing testimonies to help us get through.  We have been so blessed by the many people God has put before us.

Humbly, we ask you for your continued and ongoing prayers.  Here are the challenges we are up against.  We know for God, they are nothing.....but for us, we need peace.....

  • We sold our house and are aiming to be closed and moved out by 12/20.  That's only 18 days away!  (There is a chance that closing may move into January - but that adds different pressures).

  • We have been to El Dorado Springs two times to look at homes to rent or buy.  No door has opened yet!   We are heading back down there to look one more time this week.  We are running out of homes to look at.  I pray that this third time will be a charm as they say!  Ha!

  • We have been looking even here in KC for short term rental situations, but many doors have closed that way as well... mostly because we have 2 large dogs and no one wants to rent month to month or on a 3 month basis.

  • Packing - we have a good dent in our packing - but still have lots of things left to do.  We are thankful for those who are helping.  The main issue with what we have left is this - are we packing to move into our next place?  Are we packing to move all things into storage?  Or are we packing for a short term place - what will we need to keep with us?

  • And the biggest obstacle of all is finances!  We are not sharing this with you because we are asking for money.   We want to make that clear.  But sharing because we desperately need continued prayers that God will do what He says He will do - He is our Jehovah Jireh and He is teaching us to learn that in ways we never imagined we would have to.  It takes money to put a deposit down if we do find a rental place; it takes money to rent a moving truck, it takes money to rent a storage unit or a pod.  And it takes money/job to buy a home or rent even.  We are definitely in the wilderness.  We seem to be in a catch 22 and we need God to provide streams in the wasteland!

If you need prayer and someone standing in the gap with you, please let us know how we can pray! We want to give back as we've been given to so generously.  We are so thankful for all of you who are praying for us!  It is the fervent prayers of the righteous that avail much!

POSTPONED - Tom Stamman - Impact International Ministries -

About us:

Ministry -
Ken and I love to pray for folks who need a touch from the Lord - with words of encouragement, words of knowledge and a healing touch.  If you are someone in need, please let us know.  We also have a passion to activate and influence believers to walk in radical obedience to a fun and wonderful God!  There is just nothing like it!

If you are interested in Ken and I coming to minister to you, your small group or church, or go on a "treasurehunt" with us, please give us a call or email.  We would be delighted to!

Business -
Our LLC is official - Want InSight Chaplain Services.  God has brought us a business coach to help us and we are excited to see how that goes.  We still have many things that need to be done, logo design, website, etc.... waiting on God to provide the resources and further direction.

In the meantime,  would you please help us?  Do you know of an employer who often experiences high absenteeism due to the employees having personal issues?  Or maybe has little employee engagement due to struggles on or off the job?  We can help with that.
We are looking for companies who truly care about their employees and want to offer a business enrichment program that can increase productivity, improve employee and employer morale and provide a safe and emotionally health work environment.  If you know of someone who may be interested, would you be willing to give us an introduction?    We are determined and blessed to have this opportunity to create a cultural change in the workplace!
